Реферат: Prodn. of fibre-reinforced bitumen (I) involves coating organic (IIA) and/or inorganic reinforcing fibres (IIB) with a layer of vulcanised rubber (III) and incorporating the coated fibres in the bitumen. Specifically, (IIA) consist of natural fibre, esp. based on cotton (pref. rayon), and/or synthetic fibre, esp. polycondensates (pref. polyester and/or polyamide) and/or carbon fibre, in which case the fibre is impregnated, pref. with coupling agents based on isocyanate and/or vinylpyridine- resorcinol- formaldehyde; (IIB) consist of mineral fibres and/or metal fibres, esp. steel-based fibres, pref. treated with a coupling agent, partic. metallic interlayers of brass or Zn, hard rubber, isocyanates, chlorinated rubber, phenolic resin and/or siloxanes; (IIA/B) are recovered from scrap rubber, esp. steel or textile cord from scrap tyres (which are pulverised to give rubber-coated fibres which are then mixed with bitumen, the steel fibres being sepd. magnetically and the textile fibres by air sepn.); (I) contains 1-70 (pref. 5-50) wt.% fibres (II). USE/ADVANTAGE - The process enables the prodn. of fibre-reinforced bitumen with improved fibre-bitumen adhesion, esp. using fibres recovered from scrap tyre material.
