Improved method of making porous metal articles
Реферат: 544,833. Porous metal articles. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Feb. 14, 1941, No. 2007. Convention date, March 7, 1940. Drawings to Specification. [Class 82 (i)] Porous metal articles are made from powders the particles of which have a different composition at the surface from that of the interior by sintering the loose powder under non-oxidizing conditions at a temperature above the melting point of the surface metal but below the melting point of the nucleus metal. For example copper powder may be mixed with a liquid binder and with tin powder of finer grain size and the mixture sintered, the binder being volatilized; or a short pre-alloying step may be interposed before the sintering. Porous bodies made from the following powders are referred to: copper coated with tin; nickel with copper or tin; iron, which may include alloying constituents such as nickel, manganese &c. with copper; copper with tin-antimony-lead or with lead-antimony, bronze with tin or with tin-antimony.
