Improvements in or relating to the lead screw nuts of lathes
Реферат: 169,602. Drummond, A. Aug. 19, 1920. Driving machines.-The feed-nut of a lathe is brought into engagement with the lead-screw by a device which automatically takes up all free motion between the nut and the saddle. The half-nut B is carried on one arm of a bell-crank C, the fulcrum pin c of which is supported in adjustable centres in the apron D. The other end of the bell-crank is forked at c<1> and carries a trunnioned non-rotating nut H. A screwed sleeve E carrying the boss g of a clamping- handle G is held against axial movement by a recessed plate J secured to the apron, and a locking-rod F carries nuts f<1> bearing on the boss g. In operation, the sleeve E is turned by means of the clamping-handle and the nut H is thus moved forward until the feed-nut is fully engaged. At this point the lever engages the head f of the locking-bolt, which is thus drawn forward by further clamping pressure to bind the parts securely in position.
