Реферат: A dentifrice for preventing and inhibiting dental cavies comprises a non-toxic carrier (other than water or common organic solvents) and contains a halo-s-triazine, preferably having the general formula: <FORM:1120986/A5-A6/1> wherein X is a halogen atom, and R1 and R2 are each a hydrogen or halogen atom or an aliphatic, aryl or aralkyl group preferably containing water-solubilising groups (e.g. -SO3 Na or -COONa), in a proportion which is effective to inhibit cavies. Suitable halo-s-triazines include cyanuric chloride or fluoride, 1-(4-sulphoanilino)- 3, 5-dichloro-s-triazine, 1-(4-sulphoanilino)- 3, 5-dibromo-s-triazine, 1-(1-naphthylamino-4, 8-disulphonic acid)-3, 5-dichloro-s-triazine and 1-[3-methyl-4-azo-(2-naphthalene-4, 8- disulphonic acid)-anilino]-3, 5-dichloro-s-triazine. The dentifrice may be in the form of a mouth wash, losenge, chewing gum or tooth cleanser and may contain a surface active agent, preferably non-ionic (e.g. ethylene oxide adducts of long-chain alcohols or carboxylic acids, and fatty acid esters of polyhydric compounds such as glycerol stearate and sorbitan oleate); a buffering agent to maintain a pH of 5 to 6 (e.g. mono- and di-basic sodium and potassium phosphates); polishing agents and flavouring ingredients.
