[Also in Division C2] An unsaturated polyester resin is cured by treating it with an organic peroxidic curing initiator comprising one or more peresters and one or more tertiary hydroperoxides in a weight ratio of from 10 : 90 to 90 : 10. Preferably the perester is selected from those having the formula I, II, III, IV or V and the hydroperoxide is selected from those having the formula VI or VII wherein R, R<SP>1</SP> and A are the same or different organic radicals. In the examples polyesters prepared from maleic anhydride, phthalic anhydride, propane 1,3-diol, ethylene glycol, anhydride of 1,4,5,6,7,7-hexachloro-bicyclo- (2,2,1)-heptene(5)-2,3-dicarboxylic acid and propane 1,2-diol, stabilized with hydroquinone and dissolved in styrene are cured using t-butyl peroctoate, t-butyl perisononanoate, t-butyl perbenzoate, 2,5-dimethylhexane 2,5-bis perisonon- anoate, t-butyl hydroperoxide, 2,5-dimethyl hexane 2,5-bis hydroperoxide, vanadium ptoluene sulphonate xylene/isopropyl alcohol with excess p-toluene sulphonic acid, tertiary butyl catechol, 2,6-ditert butyl-p-cresol, dibutyl hydrogen phosphite and cobalt octoate. Glass fibre reinforced laminates are prepared.
