Реферат: 4067. Hamilton, G. Feb. 18. Processes, compound.-Linen, cotton, and other fabrics are mercerized while stretched, to give them a silky appearance. The fabric, carried on the usual tentering-chains, is caused to dip into a tank B containing the mercerizing-solution by means of wheels C, or guides. Guide-boards D serve to keep the fabric in the solution. A blade F may be used to remove the excess of solution from the fabric, or this may be effected by pressing-rollers I, the solution falling into a tank J in communication with the tank B. The fabric is washed by a spraying-device G, placed above it, and is then removed from the tentering-chains and wound on a beam. Instead of using a spraying-device, the fabric may be washed by being passed through a tank similar to that used for mercerizing. The fabric may be also passed through a neutralizing-solution.
