Spray-producers. - Apparatus of the kind described m Specification No. 9764, A.D. 1892, for spraying liquids, e.g. water - colours, oils, or essences, by means of compressed air, is provided with detachable receptacles, and with special means for opening and closing the needle valve supplying the liquid. The discharge nozzle is fitted with a special guard and a guide-rod to secure an even distribution. Fig. 1 shows a sectional view of the apparatus, Fig. 3 a sectional view on the line Y, Fig. 1, and Fig. 4 a sectional view of the link operating the liquid valve. A finger-lever P, sliding in a pivoted sleeve 0, operates the compressedair valve W<1> by a downward movement and the projection L' by a side movement. This projection L' is connected to the U-shaped piece L, which is connected to the portion B of the nozzle and slides in grooves in the body A of the apparatus. The piece L is returned by the spring M. The liquid receptacle H has a projection I which is inserted in the body A, so that the liquid may flow to the pipe E and out through the grooves round the fixed needle N. The nozzle B has an air-tube communicating with the air passage D, and is also provided with a guard C, which, to prevent the spray from being disturbed by counter air currents, is formed so as to allow of free passage for the air through the rim, either by bifurcations, as shown in Fig. 5, or by holes, as in Fig. 6. Fig. 7 shows the guide G. The amount of liquid discharged is regulated by moving the part B of the nozzle through the piece L, the movement of the lever P to effect this being limited by the adjustable stops S, S.
