Реферат: A process for giving information to an optically writable and readable data store comprises: (i) a polymer film for information storage; (ii) an absorber colorant; and (iii) a partially absorbing writing beam. The heat from (iii) is transmitted to the (i), involving local heating of (ii) according to the information supplied by a pulsed beam at part of the film. A process for giving information to a optical writable and readable data storage applicator with a locally alterable by heating polymer film for information storage carrying an absorber colorant which is oriented towards the film, and a partially absorbing writing beam (36), the heat from which is at least partially and locally transmitted to the polymer film, involving local heating of the colorant (34) according to the information by means of the pulsed beam (36) at a predetermined part of the film, and alteration of the absorption properties of the colorant by light (37).
