Screw sockets.-Non-skid, studs for pneumatic tyres, Fig. 1, comprise screw sockets C<2>, provided with undercut recesses in which rubber heads C<3> are moulded or sprung, and flat-headed screws B<2> which screw into the sockets from the inside of the tyre. The sockets bear on a leather strip or washers D, and a strip F may be provided to protect the air-tube. In a form for solid tyres, Fig. 3, the recessed sockets are connected by springs in radial holes in the tyre to thimbles H screwed into sockets B recessed in the base of the tyre, and the outward movement of the studs is limited by shoulders which bear against pieces K screwed into vulcanite or like sockets recessed in the tread of the tyre.
