Decorating plastic mouldings e.g. furniture with pigmented paints - using a superficial resin varnish to bind the paint to the surface
Реферат: Moulded resin surfaces are decorated by application of a conventional pigmented paint covered after drying by a resin varnish which can bond through the paint to the supporting resin surface. The surface to be decorated is first washed and degreased and opt. pre-coated with a varnish which will key both to the support and to the subsequent superficial varnish. The paint may be cellulosic based and carry a powdered, opt. metallic pigment. The superficial varnish is pref. a polyester, (I), a polyurethane (II) or an acrylicpolyurethane (III). Paint is suitable for decorating non-planar shapes, such as furniture, with coloured patterns individually or in small quantities without excessive cost and permits use of paints normally used on wood and which key poorly to a resinous supporting surface. It is not restricted to flat or near flat shapes, unlike laminates decorated by incorporation of printed papers during moulding.
