Реферат: Mould for a device used in the continuous casting of metals which is stationary and has an open inlet and outlet for the metal being cast, and side walls made of a heat-conducting metal has inbuilt means for feeding a cooling liq. both onto the walls and onto the cast billet leaving the mould. The mould utilises a wall-element with long side-walls, and short end walls, the long walls being bowed, (e.g. for slab-casting), and each side wall is fitted with a water-box running along the entire length of the side wall and matching its contour; the box is fitted with a bottom lip, at 25-60 degrees to the wall, forming a slot for the water cooling the billet, and adjusting devices are used to ensure a constant slot-width and a rigid structure. For example, casting Al slabs using direct quenching, where the long side walls of the mould are bowed so that flat slabs are obtd., i.e. the shape of the mould compensates for the shrinkage.
