A trailer has a pivotable flatbed. A pair of walls extend, when the flatbed is horizontal, upwardly, from respective flatbed sides. A closure includes a pair of panels and, connected to each panel by a hinge connection, an extension. In a first configuration, the panels are hinged to the rear of the flatbed. In a transport position, when the flatbed is horizontal, the panels extend upwardly and each extension extends downwardly from the respective hinge connection. In the loading position, the panels extend rearwardly and downwardly from the rear end of the flatbed and each extension extends downwardly, from the respective hinge connection, to define a pair of ramps. In a second configuration, each panel is hinged to a wall to permit panel movement in the manner of side-hinged doors. If a downwardly directed projection (3) is attached to the underside (6) of the ramp (4), a steeper position of the spring (2) with the dirt sleeve (15) results and the opening (21) becomes so narrow that accidents are ruled out.
