Novel poly-branched, mono- or poly-unsaturated functional materials are provided. More specifically, certain novel unsaturated branched functional compositions are provided that are made via isoprenoids and/or isoprenoid derivatives which come from either natural or synthetic sources. Also disclosed is their use or modification for use in consumer products such as laundry products, personal care products, dishcare products, shampoo products and hard surface cleaning products, and the like comprising the functional compositions or modified compositions. 1. A composition represented by the following general formula:{'br': None, 'sub': 2', '0+a', '3', '1+a', '2', 'x', '2', '0+b', '1+b', '1+c', '1+c, 'sup': 2', '1, 'H[CHCH(CH)CHCH]CHCH(CHR)(CHCH)R'}{'sup': 1', '2, 'claim-text': H and', {'sub': 2', 'r', '2', '2', 'p', '3', '3', '3', 'v', 'w, 'claim-text': [{'sub': '4', 'i. Y═H, Na, K, or NH;'}, 'ii. Z is an alkyl group;', 'iii. p=0-20;', 'iv. r=0-4;', 'v. v=0 or 1, w=1 or 2 and, '(CH)Q where Q=O(CHCHO)H, OCOCH, OSOY, SOY, NHZ, COOY, aryl, arylsulfonic acid, or halide; wherein'}, {'sup': 1', '2, 'wherein Rand Rare not both H, b+c=0 or 1, when v=0 then w=2 and when v=1 then w=1.'}], 'wherein x=1-5; a=0 or 1; b=0 or 1; c=0 or 1; and Rand Rare independently selected from2. The composition wherein R═H and R═(CH2)Q wherein:{'sub': 2', 'p', '3, 'i. Q=O(CH2CHO)H, OCOCH,'}ii. p=0;iii. r=1;iv. a=1;v. b=0; andvi. c=1.4.
