During the production of non-stainless steel, slag containing a high proportion of metal oxides, primarily iron oxide, is formed during the smelting of the solid material in the electric arc furnace. The concentration of the iron oxide often reaches values of more than 20%. This slag has a poor foaming capability and does not permit the typical characteristics of a carbon steel slag to be achieved. In order to cause such a slag to foam, according to the invention it is proposed to load the electric arc furnace with pellets or briquettes ( 8 ) which consist of a defined mixture of an iron oxide carrier and an iron carrier as ballast material, of carbon as reducing agent and also of a binder material, which react in the electric arc furnace in a reducing manner, floating under the slag ( 7 ) in the steel melt ( 6 ). The reaction gases ( 12 ) produced in this way consist primarily of carbon monoxide and advantageously support the foaming of the slag.

The method according to claim 1 , wherein said adjusting the smelting process comprises adjusting the amount of oxygen injected in the smelting process.3. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said adjusting step comprises adjusting the amount of coal injected in the smelting process.4. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said adjusting step comprises adjusting the amount of iron-containing feed material injected in the smelting process.5. The method according to claim 1 , wherein said adjusting step comprises adjusting the amount of lime injected in the smelting process.6. The method according to claim 1 , wherein the basicity of the slag is monitored and the amount of lime injected in the smelting process is adjusted to keep the basicity of the slag in a predefined range or restore the basicity of the slag to within the predefined range.7. A furnace 10 for smelting iron ore and/or refining molten iron 20 is equipped with an overhead pneumatic lance 40, through which a center stream of particulate coal 53 is ejected at high velocity into a slag layer 30. An annular stream of nitrogen or argon 51 enshrouds the coal stream. Oxygen 52 is simultaneously ejected in an annular stream encircling the inert gas stream 51. The interposition of the inert gas stream between the coal and oxygen streams prevents the volatile matter in the coal from combusting before it reaches the slag layer. Heat of combustion is thus more efficiently delivered to the slag, where it is needed to sustain the desired reactions occurring there. A second stream of lower velocity oxygen can be delivered through an outermost annulus 84 to react with carbon monoxide gas rising from slag layer 30, thereby adding still more heat to the furnace.

A burner/injector for providing a localized impingement flame or multiple flames for scrap heating and melting through use of a fluid fuel and at least one oxygen rich oxidizing gas. The burner/injector includes a liquid-cooled combustor for generating an impinging flame directed toward a scrap pile and a structure for injecting a controllable amount of a solid carbonaceous fuel and a controllable flow of high velocity oxidizing gas into space that has been previously occupied by the impinging flame. The burner/injector may be equipped to inject a solid slag forming materials and/or slag deoxidizing materials, and/or to inject an additional oxidizing gas for burning a small portion of preheated scrap, post-combustion of CO and iron-carbon melt refining. The burner/injector may be arranged as a simple liquid-cooled combustor permanently mounted through the furnace wall or roof, and may be equipped with single or multiple channels for injection of solid material and high velocity oxidizing gas. Separate injecting lances for high velocity oxidizing gas and/or solid carbonaceous fuel may be mounted on the furnace. Both the lances and the combustors may be equipped with a nozzles for additional injection of the additional oxidizing gas.

According to the present invention, with respect to 100 parts by weight of waste sodium bicarbonate generated in a desulfurization process of sintering flue gas, the slag calming material for a converter comprises: 20-50 parts by weight of ironmaking byproducts comprising at least any one of coke sludge, quicklime sludge, and converter slag; and 3-8 parts by weight of a binder. Generally, waste sodium bicarbonate mainly depending on burying is recycled to contribute to an environment and efficiently calm the slag while discharging iron.

Установка для получения расплавов металла содержит сосуд-металлоприемник электродуговой печи с завалочным отверстием для расплава металла, и/или скрапа, и/или металла (например, железа) прямого восстановления по меньшей мере одним электродом и устройством для выпуска шлака и кислородный конвертерный сосуд с устройством для выпуска расплава. Кислородный конвертерный сосуд вместе с сосудом-металлоприемником электродуговой печи образуют соединенный сливным устройством единый блок, неподвижно установленный на фундаменте, причем удельная поверхность ванны, отнесенная к объему ванны, в конвертерном сосуде меньше, чем в сосуде-металлоприемнике. Кислородный конвертерный сосуд и сосуд-металлоприемник электродуговой печи имеют общую реакционную зону, расположенную над зеркалом ванны этих сосудов. В сосуде-металлоприемнике получают предварительный расплав, доводят до определенного уровня температуры и химического состава. Затем направляют в конвертерный сосуд, непрерывно рафинируют, предпочтительно до получения сырой стали, при этом шлак, образующийся в конвертерном сосуде в противотоке к металлу, направляют в сосуд-металлоприемник, из которого затем удаляют. FIELD: briquette containing silicon-containing residues and methods of its production. SUBSTANCE: silicon-containing residues accumulated especially in synthesis of organosilanes from metallic silicon and methyl chloride are worked to form briquettes which are subsequently used as addition for regulation of quality of pig iron in cupolas to avoid use of expensive regeneration of valuable components or full rejection to waste of the silicon-containing residues. Briquettes also includes 1-10 wt.% of cardboard fiber, 5-40 wt. % of hydraulic cement and 2-20 wt.% of additional additions which affect the quality of pig iron. Briquettes are produced silicon-containing residues with cardboard fiber and hydraulic cement and subsequent addition to mixture of water and formation of briquettes from produced paste mixture by pressing. Diameter of briquette cross-section is about 20 mm and height about 50 mm. Briquettes are stable enough mechanically and thermally, stable for operation in melting furnace. Index of utilization of silicon particles of small sizes introduced into pig iron amount to 85% that is equal to that of lumpy ferrosilicon. Zur Vermeidung einerseits der aufwendigen Aufbereitung zur Wiedergewinnung der wertvollen Bestandteile oder andererseits des totalen Verlusts durch Deponierung von siliciumhaltigen Rückständen, wie sie insbesondere bei der Synthese von Organosilanen aus metallischem Silicium und insbesondere Methylchlorid anfallen, werden solche siliciumhaltige Rückstände zu ihrer nutzbaren Verwertung gemäß der Erfindung zu Briketts verarbeitet als Additiv für die Qualitätseinstellung von im Kupolofen erzeugten Gußeisen. Die Briketts enthalten außer dem siliciumhaltigen Rückstand 1 - 10 Gew.% an Kartonmasse (Pappe), 5 - 40 Gew.% an hydraulischem Zement und 0 - 20 Gew.% an zusätzlichen, die Gußeisenqualität beeinflussenden Zusatzstoffen. Die Zement und Pappmasse enthaltenden Briketts sind für den Schmelzofenbetrieb hinreichend mechanisch und thermisch stabil. Der Ausbeutegrad im Gußeisen für das eingesetzte, feinteilige Silicium liegt bei 85 % und damit in der gleichen Größenordnung wie bei Verwendung von stückigem Ferrosilicium. Besides the silicon-containing residue the briquettes contain 1 - 10 percent by weight of cardboard fibre, 5 - 40 percent by weight of hydraulic cement and 0 - 20 percent by weight of additional additives having influence on the quality of the cast iron. The cement- and cardboard fibre-containing briquettes are mechanically and thermally sufficiently stable with respect to the operation of the melting furnace. The yielding rate of the inserted small-sized silicon in the cast iron is about 85 % and reaches thereby the same range of lumpy ferrosilicon.

The invention concerns a method of foaming steel-making slags, wherein calcium nitrate is added to the slag alone or together with carbon. Calcium nitrate and carbon can be fed into the slag trough chutes or trough lances with injection gases such as air, nitrogen, carbon dioxide or inert gases. The solid components can be injected separately or with the same lance as a mixture or injected as pre-fused granules. For ladle slag foaming, calcium nitrate and carbon is added from above the melt. It is preferred to use a ratio between calcium nitrate and carbon in the range from 4.1 to 2:1. For foaming of stainless steel slag, it is preferred to add FeSi, Al or Mg before calcium nitrate and carbon is added or injected into the slag by an injection gas. In this case, the oxygen flow rate from the first nozzle may be reduced while the iron oxide containing material is being added, and the reduced oxygen flow may be replenished with an inert gas.

Diese Schlacke besitzt eine schlechte Schäumfähigkeit und erlaubt nicht die typischen Eigenarten einer C-Stahlschlacke zu erzielen. Um eine solche Schlacke zum Schäumen zu bringen, wird erfindungsgemäß vorgeschlagen, in den Elektrolichtbogenofen Pellets bzw. Briketts (8), die aus einem definierten Gemisch aus einem Eisenoxidträger und Eisenträger als Ballastmaterial, aus Kohlenstoff als Reduktionsmittel sowie aus einem Bindematerial bestehen, zu chargieren, wo sie unter der Schlacke (7) in der Stahlschmelze (6) schwimmend reduzierend reagieren. Die hierbei entstehenden Reaktionsgase (12), die hauptsächlich aus Kohlenmonoxid bestehen, unterstützen dabei in vorteilhafter Weise ein Aufschäumen der Schlacke. A burner/injector for providing a localized impingement flame or multiple flames for scrap heating and melting through use of a fluid fuel and at least one oxygen rich oxidizing gas. The burner/injector includes a liquid-cooled combustor for generating an impinging flame directed toward a scrap pile and a structure for injecting a controllable amount of a solid carbonaceous fuel and a controllable flow of high velocity oxidizing gas into space that has been previously occupied by the impinging flame. The burner/injector may be equipped to inject a solid slag forming materials and/or slag deoxidizing materials, and/or to inject an additional oxidizing gas for burning a small portion of preheated scrap, post-combustion of CO and iron-carbon melt refining. The burner/injector may be arranged as a simple liquid-cooled combustor permanently mounted through the furnace wall or roof, and may be equipped with single or multiple channels for injection of solid material and high velocity oxidizing gas. Separate injecting lances for high velocity oxidizing gas and/or solid carbonaceous fuel may be mounted on the furnace. Both the lances and the combustors may be equipped with a nozzles for additional injection of the additional oxidizing gas. The burner/injector means can also be arranged as a water-cooled burner/injector lance accompanied with a water-cooled oxygen injecting lance, both movable through the slag door opening toward the furnace interior, wherein the combustor of the burner/injector lance may optionally be arranged (without the use of the combustion chamber) as an external combustion device.
