The present invention is a technique for provisioning and assessment of voice quality in Internet Protocol (IP) voice applications. A predetermined quality of service (QoS) is received from a user in the form of an acceptable packet loss. The technique measures current packet loss and delay in the network and in the terminal, and determines and optimum play-out delay for the use by a play-out adaptation routine. An actual QoS is reported back to the user. To enhance packet delay and loss measurement, a QoS engine component is placed on the terminal side of the packetizer, therefore including packetizer losses in any measurement of the network. 1. The model payload can be selected such that it has a predetermined length range that encompasses the length for data contained in the received payload. Anomalous payloads are then identified based on differences detected between the statistical distribution of received payloads and the model distribution. The system can also provide for automatic training and incremental updating of models.

A computerized system and method for tracking and reporting online activity across a plurality of clients and servers is disclosed that intercepts and logs secure and non-secure HTTP request and response pages, analyzes each of the received page records, associates each page record to an event type based on user-defined parameters, identifies and extracts user-defined attributes of each page record based on its event type, and reports on the occurrence of the event along with its associated attributes.

Security monitoring with programmable mapping

An integrated security arrangement is implemented in a variety of embodiments. In one such embodiment an integrated security arrangement includes a plurality of intrusion sensors that sense an intrusion in a target area, a motion sensor, and an image-capture device that is responsive to the motion sensor. When the image-capture device is enabled it captures images of the target area in response to movement in the target area as indicated by the motion sensor. The integrated security arrangement also includes a mapping database that contains data used to associate one or more of the plurality of intrusion sensors with the image-capture device. A user configures the mapping database to select at least one of the intrusion sensors for enabling the image-capture device. The integrated security arrangement further includes a control unit that enables the image-capture device in response to the selected intrusion sensor as configured in the mapping database.

Methods and systems for monitoring network routing

The disclosed methods and systems include collecting routing data from a plurality of network routers, and correlating the routing data across routers and across time to obtain network data. The network data can be streamed to a user in real-time and the user can interactively query the data. In one embodiment, interactive routing analyses, drill-down, and forensics can be performed using a repository of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) update traffic. Alarms can be set to detect selected routing problems. In setting the alarms, the message data for each router can be processed in timestamp order. Current message data from each router can be compared with previous message data to determine a condition status. An alarm can be provided when the condition status meets a temporal correlation criterion and/or a spatial correlation criterion. Based on the computed instability metrics for individual network prefixes and on a common property of those prefixes, a group instability metric for a group of network prefixes can be computed.

System and method for monitoring network traffic

Described is a method of assigning a network address to a trap, the network address being a dark address of a virtual private network. The network traffic destined for the network address is monitored and a classification of the network traffic is determined. After the classification, a predetermined response is executed based on the classification of the traffic.

Internet-wide scheduling of transactions

A method and system for distributing content on a network through network-wide transactions is disclosed. The method and system monitors the network using triggered measurement of the performance of an element of the network, dynamically computing, based on the monitoring, the regions of the network with available performance capacity for the transaction to proceed at a given time, determining, based on the computing, a scheduled time for the transaction to proceed, and distributing the content according to a schedule related to the scheduled time.

Interface having selectable, interactive views for evaluating potential network compromise

A security platform employs a variety techniques and mechanisms to detect security related anomalies and threats in a computer network environment. The security platform is “big data” driven and employs machine learning to perform security analytics. The security platform performs user/entity behavioral analytics (UEBA) to detect the security related anomalies and threats, regardless of whether such anomalies/threats were previously known. The security platform can include both real-time and batch paths/modes for detecting anomalies and threats. By visually presenting analytical results scored with risk ratings and supporting evidence, the security platform enables network security administrators to respond to a detected anomaly or threat, and to take action promptly.

Determining overall network health and stability

A network health analyzer that analyzes health of a computer network may be implemented in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention. A network profile including an issue profile and one or more benchmarks appropriate for the network is determined. A set of numeric measures that is common to all issues in the issue profile is established. The network health analyzer collects data points pertaining to the operation of the network. Based on the data points, numeric values corresponding to the numeric measures may be calculated. In turn, health indexes for all issues in the issue profile may be determined. Based on these health indexes for the issues, an overall health rating may be determined.

Performance monitoring

Real-time data is extracted from a log file for at least one monitored process on each of a plurality of servers. For each monitored process, extracted real-time data is inserted into object variables of an object. The object variable data is processed to generate performance statistics for the monitored processes and to determine whether to trigger an alarm. A database is updated with object variable data and performance statistics when an event associated with a monitored process takes place. Historical performance statistics from the database are compared with current performance statistics to determine a performance trend.

System and method for creating multiple transportation streams of streaming media network test traffic in packet-based networks

A packetized streaming media delivery network carries many “streams” of differing media content. They often are from multiple sources and of different media types. The invention consists of a scalable hardware and/or software computing element resolving the network traffic into its individual streams for focused, simultaneous, and continuous real-time monitoring and analysis. The monitoring and analysis consists of delay factor and media loss rate which measure the cumulative jitter of the streaming media within the delivery network and the condition of the media payload. These measurements form a powerful picture of network problem awareness and resolution. The delay factor objectively indicates the contribution of the network devices in the streams' path, allowing for both problem prediction and indication. In one example, tapping a packetized network at various locations allows for correlation of the same-stream performance at various network points to pinpoint the source(s) of the impairment(s).

Cabling system and method for monitoring and managing physically connected devices over a data network

Channel quality index feedback reduction for broadband systems

A system and methodology for exploiting channel correlation in time and/or frequency to reduce CQI feedback in wireless communications systems. By compressing CQI feedback at the receiver to reduce redundancy in CQI feedback information that results from the channel correlation, the average feedback rate is reduced. Redundancy in time may be removed from the CQI feedback by monitoring variations of the CQI information in time at the receiver so that a codebook index for a given reporting instance is communicated to the transmitter only if it differs from the codebook index for the previous reporting instance. Otherwise, no feedback is performed.

System and method of authorizing a device in a network system

Switches and other network devices configured according to the present invention monitor each individual SCSI task, and are configured to apply flow control measures to each active session when buffering resources become scarce, such as when buffering data for a slower-speed WAN link or TCP/IP based interconnects of any speed.
