A port on a network device engages in auto-negotiation on a network link during a first operational state to select a transmission mode, either half duplex or full duplex. If half duplex operation is selected, the port commences half duplex operation in a second operational state. During the second operational state, the link is monitored for an error condition indicating that another network device attached to the link may not be operating in a half duplex mode. This error condition includes the occurrence of excessive collisions or late collisions. When the error condition is detected, the port commences full duplex operation in a third operational state, based on the presumption that device at the other end of the link may be configured for fixed full duplex operation. If proper operation ensues, the port remains configured for full duplex transmission. Because the presumption may be incorrect, the link is monitored during the third operational state for a second error condition indicating that transmissions by the network device may be interfering with transmissions by the other network device. Examples of the second error condition include excessive frame check sequence errors and an excessive number of abnormally truncated messages. If such a second error condition occurs, the port is disabled in a fourth operational state and the condition is reported to higher-level operating software. Repeated attempts at normal operation may follow, with further monitoring that may result in shutting down the port if normal operation cannot be achieved.

An integrated multiport switch (IMS) in which an on-chip management information base (MIB) accumulation processor enables monitoring of a significantly larger number of MIB objects to be stored in external memory while minimizing media access controller (MAC) complexity. A MAC for each port in the IMS outputs a MIB report for each transmission or reception of data according to a specific encoded format to a MIB engine. The MIB engine decodes the MIB report into a plurality of associated MIB objects, which are temporarily accumulated until the external memory is updated. The MIB engine initiates the stored MIB value updating process by retrieving the values from the external memory and adding the accumulated MIB objects to the retrieved values. The updated MIB objects are then transmitted back to the external memory for storage therein and the MIB engine object values are reset.

The system comprises connecting an intermediate device coupled between two network nodes via optical or copper interfaces, with the link settings between each node and the connected intermediate device being the same, thereby bypassing the auto-negotiation of the PCS sub-layer in the intermediate device. The intermediate device may transparently send negotiation messages from each node to the other during the link negotiation phase without interacting with those messages. Instead of the intermediate device, a single form pluggable (SFP) device may be connected between the two network nodes via optical or copper interfaces on the network side and via an SFP slot on the device side.

The amount of data being delivered across networks is constantly increasing. This system and method demonstrates an improved system and method for establishing secure network connections with increased scalability and reduced latency. Writing of data received from each port via the MAC bus to the RAM is controlled on a time shared basis. The FIFO control unit includes a receive RAM interface that is connected to the MAC bus for receiving communication data from the ports and to the FIFO memory input bus for transferring communication data to the RAM for temporary storage. As the FIFO memory input bus has a larger bit transfer capacity than the MAC bus, the receive RAM interface can accumulate incoming data during clock cycles in which data is being read from the single port RAM. When the accumulated data for a given port is to be written to the RAM in a subsequent write cycle, it is then combined with additional incoming data for the same port received at that time for transfer to the RAM.

A low-cost implementation of a switching system using a multiport network switch avoids the necessity of a microprocessor by using programmable array logic (PAL) configured to drive a non-volatile memory. The PAL includes an address generator state machine, a PCI control signal state machine, and an interrupt state machine. The non-volatile memory sequentially outputs address and data information, under the control of the address generator state machine, onto a bus connected to the network switch in order to initialize the network switch with initialization and configuration data. The PCI control signal state machine provides control signals causing the output address and data information to mimic a PCI burst transfer. Once the network switch has been configured, the non-volatile memory outputs a start command causing the network switch to begin running in a free-running mode. A memory overflow interrupt in the network switch is also enabled, causing the PAL to reset the network switch if overloaded.

A port on a network device engages in auto-negotiation on a network link during a first operational state to select a transmission mode, either half duplex or full duplex. If half duplex operation is selected, the port commences half duplex operation in a second operational state. During the second operational state, the link is monitored for an error condition indicating that another network device attached to the link may not be operating in a half duplex manner. This error condition includes the occurrence of excessive collisions or late collisions. When the error condition is detected, the port commences full duplex operation in a third operational state, based on the presumption that device at the other end of the link may be configured for fixed full duplex operation. If proper operation ensues, the port remains configured for full duplex transmission. Because the presumption may be incorrect, the link is monitored during the third operational state for a second error condition indicating that transmissions by the network device may be interfering with transmissions by the other network device. Examples of the second error condition include excessive frame check sequence errors and an excessive number of abnormally truncated messages. If such a second error condition occurs, the port is disabled in a fourth operational state and the condition is reported to higher-level operating software. Repeated attempts at normal operation may follow, with further monitoring that may result in shutting down the port if normal operation cannot be achieved.

本公开提出一种设备绑定方法,所述方法包括:向地局域网中的待绑定设备获取绑定口令;其中所述绑定口令已由所述待绑定设备上传至服务端;向所述服务端发送与所述待绑定设备进行绑定的绑定请求;所述绑定请求携带所述绑定口令以及用户登录ID,以使得所述服务端在所述绑定请求中携带的绑定口令与所述待绑定设备上传的绑定口令匹配时,建立所述用户登录ID与所述待绑定设备的绑定关系。公开可以避免由于用户登录ID泄露而导致的错误绑定,从而可以提高设备自身的安全性。

A resetting, enabling and freezing system is provided for controlling a communication device in a diagnostic process. A hardware reset of the device may be performed by a host via a reset pin of a PCI interface. A software reset of the device may be provided by setting a reset bit in a command register. To stop operations of the device substantially instantaneously, a freeze mode of diagnostics is provided. The freeze mode may be initiated using hardware or software freezing. To provide the hardware freezing, diagnostic logic is supplied with a freeze signal via a freeze pin of the PCI interface. The software freezing is performed by setting a freeze bit in the command register. To enable a diagnostician to reproduce an event causing an error, an enable/disable mode of diagnostics is carried out. In this mode, elements of the device are disabled one after another in a serial fashion, with a disable signal being passed serially from one element to another. After the elements are disabled, they may be set into a chosen state to recreate a required event.

A transmission repeater has a function of recovery to normal out of the deadlock state of auto-negotiation sequence between switches. The switches exchange auto-negotiation configuration codes via first and second transmission repeaters for a state transition. The first transmission repeater monitors auto-negotiation configuration codes among data transmitted from the opposed switch, and when detecting more than a predetermined number of configuration codes of auto-negotiation having been transmitted during a given period of time, determines that the auto-negotiation sequence between the switches is at a deadlock, and reports it to the second transmission repeater, which then disconnects optical signals from the sending end of the second transmission repeater to the switch for more than twice the propagation time of signals between the switches, thus resolving the deadlock between the switches.
