The present invention relates to an automatic evaluation system of English pronunciation by a software method and an evaluation method using the same. The evaluation system quantitatively compares linguistic features of English with acoustic features extracted from a speech of an English speaking test taker, scores the compared difference, and automatically represents the score. ... 본 발명은 영어의 언어적 특성과, 영어 말하기 시험 응시자의 발화에서 추출한 음향 특성(acoustic feature)을 정량적으로 비교하여 그 차이를 점수화하고 자동으로 제시하는 소프트웨어적 방법에 의한 영어 말하기 발음 자동평가 시스템 및 이를 이용한 평가방법에 관한 것이다. 어떠한 언어적 특징을 추출할 것인지가 자동평가 시스템 구축의 기술적 핵심인데, 본 발명에서는 영어의 발화리듬(speech prosody) 및 유창성(fluency)과 관련된 음성언어(spoken language) 특징들을 사용하였다. 이 특징들은 능숙도(proficiency)가 떨어지는 비원어민 화자(non-native speaker)일수록 모국어의 간섭(interference) 등으로 인해 영어 발화시에 원어민 화자의 특징과는 차이가 크게 나타나는 점을 이용하는 것이다.
