METHOD FOR TREATING CANCER BASED ON MUTATION STATUS OF K-RAS

The present invention provides methods and compositions for treating cancer by administering a) a composition comprising nanoparticles that comprise paclitaxel and an albumin and/or b) a therapeutic agent (e.g., gemcitabine) based upon K-ras mutation status. 1. A method of treating cancer in an individual comprising administering to the individual an effective amount of a composition comprising nanoparticles comprising a taxane and an albumin , wherein the K-ras mutation status is used as a basis for selecting the individual for treatment.2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the individual is selected for treatment if the individual has a K-ras mutation.3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the K-ras mutation is at one or more of G12 claim 1 , G13 claim 1 , S17 claim 1 , P34 or Q61 of the K-ras amino acid sequence.4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the K-ras mutation is one or more selected from the group consisting of G12C claim 3 , G12S claim 3 , G12R claim 3 , G12F claim 3 , G12L claim 3 , G12N claim 3 , G12A claim 3 , G12D claim 3 , G12V claim 3 , G13C claim 3 , G13S claim 3 , G13D claim 3 , G13V claim 3 , G13P claim 3 , S17G claim 3 , P34S claim 3 , Q61K claim 3 , Q61L claim 3 , Q61R claim 3 , and Q61H.5.
