1. Stirring device for solid and liquid or free-flowing substances, comprising a vertical vessel (10) with a driven stirring shaft (14) extending into the vessel and with at least one stirring tool (16) mounted on the stirring shaft at a distance to the bottom (12) of the vessel, said stirring tool supporting radial arms (20) that carry blade-like elements (18) whose edges are arc-shaped and whose blade areas are disposed at a pitch angle (alpha) relative to the axis of the stirring shaft (14), characterized in that the blade-like elements (18) are arc segments, namely plane or arched spiral sections or plane circle segments having a central angle (beta) in the range of about 90 to 150 degrees, preferably of about 120 degrees, and wherein each radial arm (20) is designed as a stirring element, especially as a stirring beam, an angle segment (26), a folded profile gib (28) or the like.

Agitator for dispersing gas into liquid systems - having a hollow shaft and gas passages in the agitator elements

An agitator has dispersion elements mounted on a hollow rotating shaft. The blades of the elements are perforated with channels for gas flow and a series of dispersion orifices arranged on the edges of these elements. Device is for the dispersion of fluids into fluids, esp. dispersion of gases into liquids- in systems such as gas-liquid reactions. Good dispersion properties are obtd. with an inexpensive construction which has ability to operate at pressure (=15 bars), and has ready control of gas uptake.

Method of cleaning containers, tanks etc., which are fitted with an agitator, esp. in the foodstuffs industry, consists of introducing the cleaning medium through the hollow shaft of the agitator, and distributing it from there in the vessel. Pref. the cleaning medium is expelled from a number of different points in the hollow shaft. A liquid cleaning agent is pref. used, either hot or cold. The shaft may be rotated to spray the liquid onto the wall of the vessel. Pref. the hollow shaft, if the agitator is top-mounted, is supplied with the cleaning liquid or fluid by a funnel or pressure connection; if side or bottom mounted, a pressure connection is used.

Ring turbine homogeniser - having 2 or more independent ring motors driving circular shear elements

Ring turbine homogeniser has two or more turbine discs driven by independent ring motors mounted horizontally one above the other in a housing on flange. Rotor coils are bearing mounted onto the housing and are directly coupled to concentric hollow shafts. There is an extremely narrow air gap. At the other end of the shafts are the conical shaped shearing elements. These are of geometrical similar shape so that a constant gap is maintained during rotation. The motors being independent can be driven in reverse direction so the central shaft can be driven in the reverse direction the the others. The mixing elements have uniform slots or similar in them through which the material must flow and thus be subjected to a shearing action and consequent mixing. At least one of the discs must be adjustable in the axial direction. Used for all mixing/homogenising applications. Much more flexible and quiet to run then normal drives where a single motor is used. Changes in the mixing action are simply and rapidly made without having to take machine out of commission.
