The floor panels (1) are made up of boards laid across three longitudinal runners, butted together and nailed. Vertical skirtings are fixed on either side to fend off wheels of invalid chairs. Wooden piles are driven into the sand dunes at intervals along parallel lines to accord with the chosen route. The floor panels are laid on the sand between the rows of piles and fixed to them. Handrails are fixed horizontally or parallel to any ramp to the tops of the piles to form a balustrade. Pallisading is driven into the dunes adjacent to the balustrade on the lower side of the passageway as retaining structure. Where the beach slopes steeply, turns or rest places are formed to change direction and offset the gradient. USE/ADVANTAGE - Wooden floor panels provide safe and easy access to beach for disabled people.

A steel ingot containing, apart from iron, less than 0.025% C, less than 0.1% Mn, 0 to 0.15% of surface-active elements, Si and Al, in such a way that the relationships (% Si) + 2(% Al) > 1.6% and (%Si) + (% Al) < 4.5% are met, is hot-rolled to a thickness of not less than 3.5 mm. The hot strip thus obtained is then cold-rolled at a degree of deformation of at least 86% without recrystallising and interannealing and, if necessary, finally annealed.
