A method , comprising:forming a reaction mixture comprising a terephthalate polyester, a glycol comprising 2 to 5 carbons, and an amidine organocatalyst; andheating the reaction mixture at a temperature of about 120° C. or more to depolymerize the terephthalate polyester, thereby forming a terephthalate reaction product comprising a monomeric dihydroxy terephthalate diester;wherein the terephthalate reaction product contains terephthalate oligomers in an amount less than the amount of terephthalate oligomers that would result from i) substituting the amidine organocatalyst with an equimolar amount of a guanidine catalyst and ii) depolymerizing the terephthalate polyester under otherwise identical reaction conditions.2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the glycol is present in an amount of about 4 to about 20 molar equivalents relative to total moles of terephthalate repeat unit present in the terephthalate polyester.3. Polyhexahydrotriazine (PHT) film layers are formed by a process comprising heating a first mixture comprising i) a solvent, ii) paraformaldehyde, and iii) a diamine monomer comprising two primary aromatic amine groups at a temperature of about 20° C. to less than 150° C. This heating step forms a stable polyhemiaminal (PHA) in solution, which can be cast on a surface of a substrate, thereby forming an initial film layer comprising the PHA. The initial film layer is heated at a temperature of 180° C. to about 280° C., thereby converting the PHA film layer to a PHT film layer. Young's moduli of about 8 GPA to about 14 GPA have been observed for the PHT film layers. 2. These guide members comprise a metal plate (20) mounted slidably beneath a piece fastened to the ski, such as a yoke (21). The opposite transverse edges (20a, 10b) of this plate are engaged and slide in grooves in the foot plate (1). The tensile force on the yoke is independent of the longitudinal position of the plate. Such a mounting is particularly advantageous for a foot plate in two parts (4, 7) which can be displaced relative to each other, one carrying a fixed grip (5) for holding in place the front part of the boot, and the other a heel unit (8).

The heel support (6) makes it possible to adjust to various heights and lengths of a sole. It comprises a heel support housing (11) with a front part (13) which presses on the edge of the heel end of the ski boot sole and so fixes the ski boot on the safety binding. An opening lever (10) has a lower part (28) which slides on a curved part (27) of the heel support housing. The opening lever (10) is mounted to be pivotable about an axis (16), a torsion spring (20) likewise being wound about this axis. The heel support housing (11) is mounted to rotate about an axis of rotation located at the end of steel supports (7, 8) for fixing the heel support housing to the ski binding. A shackle (17) guided through the heel support housing (11) serves, in an opened position of the heel support housing, to close the latter. The bearing pressure of the front part (13) of the heel support housing is the same for every height of the sole of the ski boot. By means of the steel supports (7, 8) connected to the heel support housing (11) and by means of clamping brackets interacting with the latter, the heel support (6) can be adapted to the respective length of the ski boot. The heel support is easily constructed from a few components and can be economically produced. It is used particularly with plate-type ski bindings. <IMAGE>

Conventional toe engaging means are provided between the plate and the ski boot and said heel means also engage the heel of the ski boot, said means being arranged for releasing the ski boot from the plate upon movement of the plate a predetermined distance either vertically away from the ski or pivotally laterally of the ski. The ski boot is thus freed from said plate and said plate remains with the ski. After the ski boot is so freed from the ski the plate returns to its aligned position with respect to the ski and the apparatus is ready for re-engagement of the boot therewith.
