Said coupling polymer is bonded by chemical bonds to the first matrix and to the metal layer. Knitted textiles are treated by applying an aq. emulsion of a copolymer comprising (by wt.) (A) 20-79% of CH2 = CH.O.OCH (R = 1-18C alkyl); (B) 20-79% of CH2 = CR2.- COOR1 (R1 = lower alkyl; R2 = H or 1-8C alkyl); (C) 1-10% of an alpha, beta-monoolefinically unsatd. carboxylic acid; (D) 0.5-2% of a bifunctional monomer (CH2=CH.CH2)2R3 (R3 = O, amino or the radical of a dicarboxylic acid), then curing so that 0.1-5 wt. % (on dry wt. of the textile) of the polymeric prod. is retained. The process is used for rendering nylon, acrylics, polyester and its (double) knits, cotton-polyester or rayon-polyester blends resistant to snag, pick and pull damage. The polymer does not adversely affect hand, stretch characteristics, dye fastness, resistance to crocking dry cleaning props. etc.
