Breathalyser cartridge with two compartments containing reagents - providing simple efficient test means for personal use

Breathalyser cartridge comprises two compartments arranged side by side. One contains a reagent for measuring the quantity of air exhaled, the other a reagent sensitive to ethanol vapour. Between the two compartments is a graduated partition for indicating the alcohol content. At the ends of the two compartments are two grids each of which defines a space between it and the end of the cartridge which is closed by a diaphragm. Pref. The ethanol reagent is fixed on silica gel. In alternative embodiments, one or both reagents ar fixed on a solid polymeric foam support, or are in the form of granules which are retained at the ends by beads of expanded polystyrene or beads of inert material. The device allows simple efficient testing of alcohol content for personal use by a driver.
