Apparatus for electrically stunning animals to be slaughtered, especially pigs
The invention refers to a device to the elektñschen Betäubung of slaughter cattle and in particular from pigs, with two synchronund parallel continuous conveyors, whose work surfaces V-shaped are arranged, with a ground under these volumes, whose distance from the volumes in direction of motion of the volumes increases, and with a pair by electrodes, those are brought in Eingrifi with the head of an animal können.
A such device is well-known. The mentioned promotion device with the V-shaped arranged continuous conveyors and with a ground among them, whose distance increases, i.e. that the ground leans downward in direction of motion of the volumes it is called, in the technical literature “fixed owner” (more restrainer). In this case the Betäubung is accomplished with the help of electrical pliers, which are equipped with two electrodes. This pliers are handled by an operator, which has to set the pliers crosswise behind the head of the animal or in longitudinal direction to the head of the animal, which must be betäubt. So that a good contact is ensured, the electrodes, which are located on the pliers, are equipped with sharp points. Additionally this changes however nothing in the fact that with this well-known device, also due to the manual handling, no homogeneous Betäubung can be kept, and places this Betäubungsart both psychologically and physically for the operator a large load dar.
If without holding device, thus one works completely manually, panic can break out under the pigs. This can lead to internal bleedings, internal fractures and breaks. Thus the holding device already represents a progress. One aims at a Betäubungszeit off, which is seconds as short with for example 11/2 as possible. Additionally the Betäubung must be like that the animal does not come to the Betäubungsvorgang again to itself; i.e. that one must try to cut the animal within one minute after the Betäuben and afterwards the entire blood in as short a time as possible it flows off too leave/>
Task of the invention is it to create a device with that an effective and homogeneous Betäuben would drive through itself leaves made possible and it that the animal, which is to be betäubt is if possible exposed to ge6ngen loads and human activities not longer necessarily sind.
The ertìndungsgemässe task is solved by the fact that the electrodes in Bewegungsñchtung of the volumes of, each other are mobile arranged under distance and into the V-shaped passage between the volumes extends können.
Other possible Aisffihrungsformen of the electrodes is chains, swivelling brushes, whose bristles form the electrodes, wire curtains usw.
With a preferential execution form however the electrodes at horizontal axles are hung up tiltable and extend into the V-shaped passage. It turned out that the animal moves its head downward at the sight of the first electrode, in order to go past under it. This does not succeed to the animal; it feels that the electrode paints over its head; then it raises its head, meanwhile the lip of the animal in contact with the second electrode comes, according to which the current draw directly along the most suitable way over lip, brain and neck erfolgt.
Preferably the electrodes are in such a way arranged that the river flows over the eyes to the neck. In this way an effective and homogeneous Betäubung is possible. With the well-known clips it was not possible to receive this favorable electrical path. There thus the danger by muscle contractions, accompanied of injuries smaller is, is better a Betäubung over the brain than over the muscles, in case of pliers set at the neck erfolgt.
Preferably the electrodes in the initial position are held by feathers/springs. Further the electrodes are implemented in such a way that, with view in direction of motion of the volumes, which take first electrodes an essentially vertical initial position, while the second electrodes over the largest part of their length lean forward. In this way the contact with the lip is improved, if the head raised ist.
Preferably each electrode from a number is formed downward arranged staffs, so that in the case, in that the animal moves its head laterally, the lip nevertheless in contact with an electrode kommt.
Preferably the second electrodes are in such a manner subdivided regarding the width of the holding device that unconsidered the head position of the animal, at least one of the eyes of the animal in contact with an electrode kommt.
Preferably the device is in such a manner developed that the full achievement is switched on, after a river of low achievement of one of the electrodes formed to others. Then security results from the height of the control stream that the contact for the delivery of the main stream impact satisfyingly ist.
Further the control device is e.g. in such a way developed that after delivery of the full achievement during a short time period, i.e. after delivery of a current draw necessary for a Betäubungsvorgang the device is closed during a certain longer Zeitpeñode regarding the delivery of a next current draw. In this way it is reached that a pig, which follows an evenly betäubten pig and is located in contact with it receives the current draw to early, if it, while the second electrode is still in contact with the preceding animal, comes into contact with the first electrode. Another solution type of this problem lies in the fact that of the separation of the pigs is taken care; for example this can be achieved by use of two holding devices and by it that the speed first is held second on lower height than those, in that the electrodes arranged sind.
628,500 the invention in the following for example on the basis the design one describes; in this shows:
Fig. ! a side view of the device according to invention, whereby parts were omitted; and Fig. 2 a front view of the same Vorrichtung.
The design represents a holding device, which covers two volumes 1 and 2, which V-shaped is arranged and is under those a ground 3, which leans downward. The pigs, which are attached toward the arrow 4 herlo, lose the stop under their feet as consequence downward of the bending ground 3 and become between the volumes 1 and 2 with their sides eingeklemmt.
In the context of the device electrodes 5 and 6 are arranged, which hold themselves around horizontal axles 7 and/or 8 to swivel to be able and by feathers/springs 9 and/or 10 in their initial position. As itself from Fig. to recognize these electrodes a number of staffs, whose length is essentially fixed by the V-shaped area between the volumes 1 and 2, leaves, covers 2. The electrodes are essentially vertically hung up, while the electrodes 6 possess a diagonally leaning range 6 ', that forward arranged ist.
The pig arriving at the electrodes 5 becomes these electrodes with its head way pushing, so that itself these around the axle 7 the counterclockwise verschwenken.
As soon as the head passed these electrodes 5, the trunk comes into the range of the electrodes 6; as soon as the trunk and/or the eyes with these comes into contact, the control stream begins to flow, according to which the current draw follows immediately. The first electrodes are then arranged at the neck of the animal. Since the eyes possess a direct connection with the brain, a current flow is over the eyes vorteilhaft.

As each pig approaches the stunning device, it comes into contact with two sets of electrodes. The first set consist of several parallel electrodes hinged about a horizontal axis perpendicular to the length of the conveyor and held in the downward position by springs. The second set consist of a pair of parallel electrodes similarly supported but with their lower ends bent toward the front of the conveyor. - As the pig is carried by the restrainer it first comes into contact with the rearmost electrode. As it moves further forward, its head and, preferably, its eyes come into contact with the front electrodes. The consequent closure of the circuit between the two electrodes causes a sensing current to flow which is immediately followed by a strong, stunning shock. After this, a timer prevents any further flow of current until the pig is clear of the stunner. This prevents the pig behind from causing a premature discharge of current. - Prior art required manual contacting of electrodes with the pig from behind. This requires considerable physical strength from the person carrying out the stunning and delivers a shock of uncertain strength and duration to the muscles in the neck of the pig. Such a shock may cause muscular contractions which damage the inside of the pig. The above device eliminates the need for hand placing of the electrodes and passes a precisely sized and timed shock into the brain of the pig thus causing immediate stunning with no muscle spasms.
