[9]

The present invention relates to devices

[10]

control of the chucks said "-clip

[11]

bar ", / machines, in which

[12]

the workpiece is rotated.

[13]

II is common practice, with respect to

[14]

the chuck provided in the pin holder

[15]

bar towers, to make use of angle levers,

[16]

ordinarily called "toggle", for

[17]

cause relative movement of the clip is-

[18]

bar itself, or the closure sleeve

[19]

the collet, for clamping the workpiece.

[20]

The aim of the invention is to provide a mecha-

[21]

toggle mechanism of a novel type for

[22]

replace those currently in use, and a shape

[23]

of preferred embodiment of the construction

[24]

inventive No. 4543/44 English.

[25]

It has been found, in practice, that, when the

[26]

mechanism is incorporated in some of the disp ' o-

[27]

sitions described in this patent application

[28]

(such as those of fig. 7, 8, 9 and 10 in the-

[29]

two pairs of rollers which reaction com-

[30]

[...] by rollers actuated by thrust

[31]

a common cam are arranged parallel

[32]

to each other) and mounted on the spindle of a lathe

[33]

rotating at high speeds, the forces-centri

[34]

[...] are such that the rollers push tend

[35]

to stay in contact with the rollers reaction

[36]

when the movement of the cams

[37]

removal, which counteracts the instant opening of the

[38]

collet, and makes necessary the use of springs

[39]

or other means for releasing the rollers

[40]

thrust speeds of about 6,000 revolutions per

[41]

minute, or higher.

[42]

Another object of the invention is, therefore,

[43]

provide a mechanism by which the comfort-

[44]

[...] are reduced or switched off.

[45]

The present invention comprises a device

[46]

control collet, for the towers and

[47]

machines in which the workpiece is in-

[48]

by rotation, and which uses rollers for

[49]

perform the movement of a part of the operating mechanism for the collet along the axis of rotation of the mechanism or parallel to that axis, and wherein extension of the axes of said rollers meet axis of rotation of the collet. The invention consists, further, as a controller of collet, for towers or like machines, comprising rollers with parallel axes, relatively movable, that cooperate to actuate a "toggle" desi and are arranged in cages carried by the spindle of the machine, such that the centrifugal forces resulting from the rotation of the pin have no appreciable effect on the rollers in the direction of their relative movement which provides the aforementioned toggle action.

[50]

The below will describe the invention in more detail by referring to the accompanying drawings on which:

[51]

Figure 1 is a side view, with axial section, of a control device of collet according to the invention;

[52]

Figure 2 is a plan view (with the broken portion perspective);

[53]

Figure 3 is an end view partial line 3-3 (fig. 2).

[54]

In implementing the invention in the form of advantageous embodiment represented in the drawings, there is provided a control part J, coil-shaped, mounted to slide on the spindle 2 of the lathe, the "coil" is moved longitudinally by means of a fork or any other suitable drive mechanism, of known construction. A the coil 1 is fixed a sliding sleeve 3' which encloses the fixed and movable containing the rollers and cams which will be described below.

[55]

The socket 3 acts, via pins 4 attached to the coil1 ( fig. 2), on cams 5, two in number in the present embodiment, having a triangular cross section section-

630,410. Chucks. CHURCHILL & CO., Ltd., C., and MOULD, C. H. Oct. 24, 1947, No. 28473. [Class 83 (iii)] A collet-operating device comprises a plurality of pairs of reaction rollers 8 having their axes extending substantially radially from the collet axis, the rollers 8 being disposed in cages 16 between fixed and movable elements 9, 11 respectively, and each pair of rollers being contacted by a pressure roller 7 which is actuated by a cam 5, associated with a sliding sleeve 3, to force the rollers 8 further apart and cause axial movement of the element 11 with consequent movement of the collet tube 13. The cams 5 are operated in the reverse direction to release the grip by means of pins associated with the sliding sleeve 3. Specification 614,905 is referred to.

1° Rollers are used to produce movement of a part of the control mechanism of the collet along the axis of rotation of said mechanism or parallel to that axis, and the extended axes of the rollers meet l? axis of rotation of the collet;

2° The axes of the rollers are substantially perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the collet;

3° The device comprises two members which are relatively movable in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the collet and a series of rollers with parallel axes are arranged between these two elements and extending substantially radially relative to the axis of rotation of the collet;

4° Two rollers spaced apart reaction respectively correspond to the two relatively movable members and a thrust runner is provided in contact with these two rollers reaction the gap is smaller than the diameter of the pushing roller;

5° A cam device is provided for forcing the pushing roller reaction between the rollers so as to separate them positively and to thereby effect axial separation of the two relatively movable members;

6° There are two sets of rollers each comprising two reaction rollers and a thrust runner interposed, and a double cam device is arranged between the two rollers and thrust acting simultaneously on them;

7° The cam device includes a truncated triangular cross section, having sloped surfaces designed to slide against the rollers push is moved. in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the collet;

8° is provided four sets of rollers distributed in two pairs are formed in diametrically opposite positions, each pair having a cam device common control;

9° One of the elements is set such that it cannot be moved axially on the spindle of the machine and the other, movable relative to the first, is connected to the control device of the collet;

10° The two elements are biased towards one another by a spring device;

11° The device comprises rollers with parallel axes which are movable relative to each other and interact in actuating a mechanism of the genus "toggle" which the elements are arranged in cages carried by the spindle of the machine, such that the centrifugal forces resulting from the rotation of the spindle of the machine have no appreciable effect on the rollers in the direction of their relative movement to operate the toggle lever.
