Improvements in apparatus for discharging, or emptying, gas retorts

Discharging.-Relates to chain ram discharging-apparatus for gas retorts of the kind described in Specification 14089/03, [Class 55, Gas manufacture &c.], and comprises modifications in the pusher head, in the ram member carrying the head, and in the means for connecting the chain links. The pusher head c is fitted with a detachable projecting portion e secured thereto by bolts f, g passing respectively through horizontal and vertical portions of the end member of the ram. This member is made in two parts a, b, firmly secured together by a. block h riveted or bolted to both parts, and the chain links are connected by members l situated between the side cheeks m of the links and connected thereto by the joint pins o.
