PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the optical center position of each optical transmission member with high measuring precision as to an optical transmission member holding device which holds optical transmission members at respective specific positions.

SOLUTION: To measure the optical center positions of the respective optical transmission members 13A and 13P, etc., a lens system 14 which generates beam waists of pieces 15A and 15P of projection luminous flux is arranged opposite the end surfaces 12 of the optical transmission members of the holding device 9. The projection light from the lens system 14 is made incident on the end surfaces 12 of the optical transmission members respectively and the position of the lens system 14 is measured where projection lights 16A and 16P from the optical transmission members become maximum in light intensity. The positions of the respective optical transmission members are calculated from those measured values.
