Various articles, such as footwear, apparel, athletic equipment, watchbands, and the like, and methods of forming those articles are presented. The articles are generally formed, in whole or in part, using rapid manufacturing techniques, such as laser sintering, stereolithography, solid deposition modeling, and the like. The use of rapid manufacturing allows for relatively economical and time efficient manufacture of customized articles. Portions of the articles may be manufactured using rapid manufacturing and those portions may be joined with portions formed using conventional, non-rapid manufacturing techniques. The methods may also include performing a scan of an appropriate body part of a user, such as a foot, in order to create a customized article of footwear for the user.

Принадлежит: corpus.e AG

A method is described for selecting, in a cost-effective and largely automated manner, best fit footwear with an optimally selected or individualized footbed. With the aid of a preferably multisensory foot scanner, the geometric three-dimensional shape of the foot and the plantar pressure image registered with it are determined at the same time. A database of digitized shoe interiors is used for determining, by means of a best fit selection, the series-produced shoe that best matches the 3D foot model. Using a conventional system for producing individualized insoles and/or footbeds, an insole that matches the sole of the foot is selected or prepared and, in a further, novel method step according to the invention, by means of numerical determination of the three-dimensional surfaces of the footbed, the foot sole and the peripheral zone of the sole in the inner shoe, the so-called insole space, the required insole constituting the footbed is selected, or further processed numerically, such that it fits in an optimum manner into the selected best fit item of footwear in the put-on condition. 1. A method of equipping footwear with a footbed customized to a foot of a person , comprising the following steps:a) acquiring a numerical model of the three-dimensional shape of the foot by means of a foot scanner;b) preparing a plantar pressure image of the foot by means of a pressure sensor plate on which the person stands;c) registering the plantar pressure image with the numerical model of the three-dimensional shape of the foot;d) obtaining, or acquiring by means of an interior scanner, a numerical model of the interior shape of the footwear;e) calculating, from the plantar pressure image, a surface model of an insole for the surface contacting the foot sole;f) establishing, from the intersection of the three-dimensional surfaces of the interior shape of the footwear and the surface model of the insole, the space coordinates for the peripheral zone and the lower side of the ...

A method of forming a castless orthotic for a patient's foot in need thereof. The method comprises preparing an orthotic template for the foot wherein the template extends between a heel end and a toe end. In preparing the template the steps of attaching a three-quarter length or full length upper thermoplastic material to a or three-quarter length lower thermoplastic material, or providing a thermoplastic material having a variable thickness such that said thickness decreases from said heel end to said toe end is provided. Then attaching an outer lower layer to the lower thermoplastic material and attaching an outer upper layer to the upper thermoplastic material, or attaching an outer layer to each face of the variable thickness thermoplastic material and heating the prepared orthotic template for a predetermined period of time at a predetermined temperature to soften the orthotic template. A wrap is then placed on top of the foot foam and the foot of the patient is placed on top of the wrap and foot foam. The patient's foot is lifted and the heated orthotic template is placed on top of the wrap and then placing the patient's foot on top of the heated orthotic template. The wrap is placed about the longitudinal axis of the foot to retain the heated orthotic template intermediate the sole of the foot and the foot foam whereby the sides of the orthotic template are particularly supported by the wrap. The method further includes ensuring the foot is positioned over a cuboid support and a medial longitudinal arch support wherein the cuboid support is disposed on the outside of the bottom of the foot and the cuboid support is moved to push the foot upwardly until a resistance is felt, and where the foot is also positioned over the medial longitudinal arch support which is then pushed and pulled upwardly until the foot is moved into a neutral position or if it is unable to be translated or rotated due to until it reaches its end range of motion. A method and apparatus for generating a custom made orthotic or insole for footwear. Information relating to the pressure applied by the sole of a person's foot is used to custom produce an orthotic or insole for the person by using softer material or different structural components, selectively located at pressure points of a particular individual, to unload pressure on the foot at those points. A system for inspecting an upper of a shoe includes an optical sub-system and a processor. The optical sub-system captures an image related to a work piece which includes the upper and a last so as to output image data representing the image. The processor receives the image data, establishes a work piece model that is a three-dimensional model of the work piece based on the image data, obtains a cross section of the work piece model, obtains an entry of section data related to the cross section of the work piece model, and compares the entry of section data and an entry of predetermined standard data so as to generate a result of inspection indicating whether the upper is normal. 1. A method for inspecting an upper of a shoe , the upper being pulled around a last by a shoe lasting machine where the upper and the last cooperatively serve as a work piece , the method to be implemented by a processor and comprising:a) establishing, based on at least one image related to the work piece, a work piece model that is a three-dimensional model of the work piece;b) obtaining a cross section of the work piece model along an imaginary cutting plane passing through an imaginary section line;c) obtaining an entry of section data related to the cross section of the work piece model; andd) comparing the entry of section data and an entry of predetermined standard data so as to generate a result of inspection indicating whether the upper is normal.2. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein step a) includes sub-steps of:a-1) obtaining two images of the work piece which are captured by two image capturing devices spaced apart from each other;a-2) comparing the two images of the work piece to obtain plural pairs of corresponding image points in the two images;a-3) for each of the pairs of corresponding image points, determining a disparity of the pair of corresponding image points, and calculating spatial coordinates of a common point (p) in a three-dimensional space based on the ...
