Method of manufacturing a gravity-powered, wind-resistant and self-opening umbrella system

Methods of manufacturing a gravity-powered, self-opening, and wind-resistant umbrella systems are provided. As evidenced from the teachings provided herein, the systems can be designed in a variety of configurations. The umbrella system can include a counterweight and system of pulleys, where the system of pulleys includes class 1 and class 2 pulleys configured with the counterweight to gain a mechanical advantage in the normal operation of the umbrella. The umbrella can be, for example, a patio umbrella in which the mechanical advantage provides a self-opening of an umbrella canopy and ease-of-retracting of the canopy for a user. And, the system can also be dynamic, such that it's also resistant to external forces, such as the wind.

Anchor for beach umbrella

A lightweight, flexible, portable bag which can be filled with beach sand, rocks, dirt or other loose material is connected to the upper part of the pole of a beach umbrella by a long flexible cord. The lower portion of the cord is secured to the open end of the nylon bag. The upper end of the cord is connected to the upper end of the pole of the umbrella by a hook-and-loop type fastener strap which wraps around the umbrella pole. The lower end of the cord is fitted within a hem in the opening of the bag to form a drawstring for closure of the bag to retain the sand or loose material in the bag during use. One end of the cord is formed into a loop with the long end of the cord passing through the loop and connected to the umbrella pole. Tension on the cord during use will cinch the drawstring closed thus retaining the material within the bag. The weight of the bag connected to the upper part of the pole will stabilize the umbrella in light to moderate winds. Prior to filling, the bag has minimal weight so as to be easily transported.

BAG FOR UMBRELLA

A bag for carrying and storing an umbrella includes an elongated, tubular sleeve portion with an open end and a closed end defining an interior sized to accommodate the umbrella. The opened end can receive the umbrella lengthwise into the interior. Attached to the closed end can be an end cap having a central drainage aperture disposed therethrough. The drainage aperture can sealingly engage with an elongated tip on the umbrella to retain moisture from the umbrella within the interior of the bag. The umbrella tip can be selectively removed from and inserted into the drainage aperture to selectively seal and unseal the drainage aperture. A folding umbrella and particularly one having multiple folds, is comprised of a support frame incorporating a hybrid rib typically located intermediate a main rib and a rear or outermost rib. The hybrid rib is formed of multiple sections composed of first and second materials which respectively provide the desired structural strength to reduce inversions of the umbrella to an acceptable minimum and provide the hybrid rib with the desired resiliency and flexibility to return the hybrid rib to its original, unstressed shape and thereby prevent permanent damage to the hybrid rib as well as adjoining frame elements of the umbrella. Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide a flexible canopy. In one embodiment, the flexible canopy includes a central shaft, a sliding collar, a plurality of supports, a plurality of tensioners, a tensioner connection hub, and a membrane. A first end of each of the supports is connected to the sliding collar, and a second end of each of the supports is connected to the membrane near the edge of the membrane. A privacy umbrella includes a canopy, and at least a portion of the canopy includes a section made of a one-way material that allows an individual under the canopy to see outward through the one-way material, but which prevents people outside the canopy from obtaining a good view through the one-way material into the interior of the canopy. An umbrella for removably securing to a surface, such as a vehicle. The umbrella includes a shaft having a handle on a first end and a canopy on an opposing second end. One or more ribs are secured to the canopy in order to support the canopy in an open configuration. Each rib includes one or more weights in order to stabilize the canopy when secured to a surface. One or more magnets are secured to a lower end of each rib in order to removably secure the umbrella to a magnetic surface for hands-free use. An umbrella with a protective sheath assembly is provided. The umbrella can comprise a foldable canopy, a pole, a series of spokes extending from a hub slidable on the pole, the spokes supporting the canopy, a handle extended from the pole, and a foldable sheath selectively extendable from the canopy. A series of drawstrings can be provided for maintaining the sheath in a deployed state, the drawstrings connected to a cord for actuation of the drawstrings and consequently the deployment of the sheath. UMBRELLA ANCHORING DEVICE

An umbrella system that provides stability to an umbrella to prevent it from inversion or damage in strong wind conditions. The umbrella includes guidelines that may be stored in the umbrella handle, and may include a spring stored in the handle for retracting a dispensed length of the guidelines. The guidelines may be secured to the canopy of the umbrella or to the ribs of the umbrella. When the umbrella is in an open position, the guidelines may be extended from the handle to the perimeter of the canopy. The guidelines provide a downward force to the umbrella canopy such that when there are strong winds, the umbrella does not invert due to the guidelines pulling down on the canopy. The guidelines may also be stored within the ribs of the umbrella. Clips may also be used to secure one end of the guidelines to the canopy. 1. A portable weather protection system is provided comprising a shaft with a handle at a first end of the shaft and a ring-like collar encircling the shaft and freely sliding a majority of a length of the shaft. The system also comprises a plurality of spokes attached in a hinge-like manner to a second end of the shaft and extending radially outward. The system also comprises a plurality of arms extending radially from the collar, each of the plurality supporting one of the plurality of spokes via leveraging mechanisms. WATER CATCHMENT DEVICE FOR UMBRELLA

Provided is a water catchment device for an umbrella, the water catchment device including: a cover, a protrusion, and an absorbent element. The protrusion further has an insertion channel for an umbrella to be inserted into and combined with the water catchment device. Furthermore, a catchment is formed between the cover and the protrusion and an absorbent element is mounted in the catchment. The absorbent element can absorb rainwater and retain the rainwater in the catchment. The water catchment device prevents the rainwater from overflowing from the catchment and dripping around. In addition, the cover and the protrusion are made of flexible materials. The absorbent element in the catchment can be dried by pressing the cover. The absorbent element also can be removed from the catchment for drying or replacement whenever needed. 2. A portable beach umbrella anchoring system and method are disclosed. The umbrella anchoring system includes a support frame system that includes central tube for receiving an umbrella shaft. The support frame system comprises a frame network that includes leg assemblies for penetrating and securing to a ground surface, so that a beach umbrella may firmly stand in sand, grass or soil in an upright or angled configuration with relatively little effort and no need for tools. The present invention includes an umbrella anti-inversion apparatus comprising a removable cuff and a plurality of removable and adjustable straps. The cuff is attached around an umbrella shaft and the straps extend radially from the strap openings on the adjustable cuff to the umbrella tips to which they are connected. There are adjusting means incorporated on to the straps enabling easy modification of length thereby providing varied tension in each strap for effectively preventing undesirable displacement of the rib outer ends; thus providing a particular means for averting the inversion of an umbrella canopy in an open position from high winds and other weather events. 1.
