A method for securing a portable electronic device having a housing to a substantially immovable object utilizing a locking assembly having a security rod or spike formed with an anchoring end separated axially by a protruding end, a locking device with an internal locking mechanism and a cable permanently attached to the locking device at one end, includes several steps. The steps include securedly fixing the anchoring end of the security rod or spike to the portable electronic device upon or through the housing, attaching an other end of the cable to the substantially immovable object and inserting the protruding end of the security rod into an opening in the locking device to actuate the internal locking mechanism and lock the locking device to the captive security rod. A display stand for a portable article with a base having a bottom bearing portion and a support for a portable article. A retracting mechanism has a spool around which a flexible tether is wrapped. An anti-theft device for securing an electronic product during retail display. The product has a socket adapted for the transmission of power and/or information during normal operation. The device includes a plug for engagement with the socket. The plug has an insertable portion, for insertion into the socket. The insertable portion has a lock which locks to the socket to prevent removal while the insertable portion is locked. The insertable portion also has a release enabling for withdrawal of the insertable portion from the socket. The plug has a control mechanism for holding the lock such that when the plug is engaged with the socket, the lock can be changed from a locking to release configuration substantially only by operation of the control mechanism by a security key. A pair of neck portions are securable to one another with the first and second support arms sandwiched therebetween. Security systems and methods configured for use with an item of merchandise for retail display include a housing, at least one sensor carried by the housing and at least one output device carried by the housing. The security system further includes a controller carried by the housing and operably coupled to the sensor and to the output device. The controller is operable to determine a distance traveled by the item of merchandise from a retail display “home” position based upon a sensor input from the sensor, and to activate the output device based upon the distance traveled by the item of merchandise exceeding a threshold distance. The controller may utilize the at least one sensor in conjunction with an inertial navigation system (INS) and motion processing algorithms or techniques to determine the distance traveled by the item of merchandise from the retail display “home” position.

A product-display system for displaying and securing a retail product. The system may include a retainer having a retainer bracket and a retainer body coupled to the retainer bracket. A retaining cable may be coupled to the retainer body at an opening in the retainer body. A fastener that may be unfastened to release the product from the retainer may only be accessed through the opening of the retainer body such that when the retaining cable is coupled to the opening, no fasteners of the retainer may be visible or accessible. The system may also include a display stem for holding the retainer and product. The display stem may include a recess for receiving at least a portion of the retainer body. A display system (10, 100) for displaying an item of merchandise (18, 118) in a retail environment that allows a potential customer to handle the item while it is secured to the display system. Noose lanyard with self-orienting mounting area

A display assembly for automatically orienting a display item includes a base, a mounting member and a lanyard which extends outwardly from the mounting member to loop around the display item. The mounting member is removably mounted on the base to allow handling of the display item when removed and when mounted automatically moves from an unaligned orientation to an aligned display orientation. A lanyard securing mechanism mounted on the mounting member includes an operating member for operating the securing mechanism. The lanyard and display item are movable relative to the mounting member from an operating-member access position for securing the lanyard via the operating member to an operating-member blocking position to block access to the operating member to prevent loosening of the lanyard via the operating member. An alarm is activated in response to compromise of the lanyard or removal of the display item from the blocking position.

Adjustable display assembly for a retail product

A display assembly for a retail product has a base and a platform adjustably mounted on an upper end of the base. The platform includes a lower housing which is pivotally supported in a cradle attached to the upper end of the base. The platform is pivotally mounted on the cradle by a pair of pivot pins, at least one of which is threaded to secure the platform in an adjusted titled position on the cradle. A plurality of notches are formed on the platform housing and selectively engage a detent formed on the cradle to retain the platform in an adjusted position. A sensor may be removably mounted on the platform and connected to the product and to the base by an expandable cord to actuate an alarm if the product is removed in an unauthorized manner from the sensor or base.

Security system with product power capability

A security system and display module therefore protects an item of merchandise mounted on the display module in a retail environment. The item of merchandise is electrically and mechanically connected to a sensor which is removably mounted on the display module by a first power cord. A second power cord connects the display module to the sensor and a third power cord connects the display module to a source of electricity for supplying electric power to the sensor through the display module and then to the displayed item for maintaining the charge on a battery of the displayed item. The display module contains an alarm unit having an audible alarm which is actuated if the integrity of either of the first or second power cords is compromised. A plunger switch and LED may be contained in the sensor and in a base of the display module and connected to the internal alarm to provide additional security for the protected item of merchandise. The alarm is powered from the source of electricity but is automatically switched to the battery upon interruption of this power source.

Device Display Unit

A display fixture for personal electronic devices. The personal electronic device display fixture comprises a base plate, a pillar and a display plate configured to display an MP3 player or other personal electronic device. The personal electronic device display fixture allows for the display of items associated with the personal electronic device and can be moved easily to various locations in a retail environment. The personal electronic device display fixture may also allow for the connection of an antitheft device to the merchandise.

Security mount for displaying handheld device

A security mount for displaying an article such as a handheld device is provided that includes a device mount that can be secured to a handheld device and a base mount that can be secured to a display structure. A clamp, a system and/or a method secures an article to a fixture. The clamp, the system and/or the method may prevent a theft and/or a removal of the article from the fixture. The clamp is attached to the article, such as, for example, a laptop computer. A vertical member extends from the clamp and may be situated within a recess of the article to prevent the clamp from being removed from the article. A tether secures the clamp and/or the article to the fixture. The vertical member of the clamp may have a plunger that may be depressed by the article while the article is situated within the clamp.

An adapter plate for securing an item of merchandise to a merchandise security device is provided. For example, the adapter plate includes a body configured to be secured to an item of merchandise, wherein at least one slot is defined in the body. Security system with product power capability

A security system and display module therefore protects an item of merchandise mounted on the display module in a retail environment. The item of merchandise is electrically and mechanically connected to a sensor which is removably mounted on the display module by a first power cord. A second power cord connects the display module to the sensor and a third power cord connects the display module to a source of electricity for supplying electric power to the sensor through the display module and then to the displayed item for maintaining the charge on a battery of the displayed item. The display module contains an alarm unit having an audible alarm which is actuated if the integrity of either of the first or second power cords is compromised. A security display system typically used to display, and permit the handling of, costly items such as cameras, video cameras and recorders, while preventing the theft of those items. The system permits persons to handle the item and prevents theft of the item through a cable which acts to tether the item, provide power to the item and trigger an alarm if it is cut or disconnected. The cable is largely hidden until the item is picked up, as the cable runs through the item support and under the counter.

The invention concerns security support for display article, in particular wrist-watches, designed to be integrated in a display unit ( 30 ) and comprising a sensor ( 7 ) fixed on the base ( 10 ) and connected by a conductor wire ( 12 ) to a connector ( 12 ) linked to an alarm central station. Said support consists of a globally cylindrical block ( 2 ) whereof the side surface is truncated along a chord ( 3 ) to form a plane ( 4 ) whereon is fixedly mounted a mechanical locking member ( 5 ) adapted to co-operate removably with corresponding parts ( 6 ) of the sensor ( 7 ) fixed at the base ( 9 ) of the watch ( 10 ), such that the latter thus equipped with the sensor ( 7 ), can be mechanically locked on the cylindrical block ( 2 ) by the locking member ( 5 ) and can be locked on that same block by winding of its own bracelet ( 13 ) and by closure of its clasp ( 14 ).

Adjustable display assembly for a retail product

A display assembly for a retail product has a base and a platform adjustably mounted on an upper end of the base. The platform includes a lower housing which is pivotally supported in a cradle attached to the upper end of the base. The platform is pivotally mounted on the cradle by a pair of pivot pins, at least one of which is threaded to secure the platform in an adjusted titled position on the cradle. A plurality of notches are formed on the platform housing and selectively engage a detent formed on the cradle to retain the platform in an adjusted position. A sensor may be removably mounted on the platform and connected to the product and to the base by an expandable cord to actuate an alarm if the product is removed in an unauthorized manner from the sensor or base.
