The accelerometer then measures the particular frequency of vibration and transmits this information to a centralized monitoring unit (CMU). Based on the measured frequency, the CMU is able to know that the same patient wearing/holding the device is also the same patient using the data acquisition device. The vibration source may revolve through a number of predetermined frequencies (as determined on its own or instructed via the CMU) or simply generate a random frequency.

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to implantable systems, and methods for use therewith, that monitor and modify a patient's arterial blood pressure without requiring an intravascular pressure transducer. In accordance with an embodiment, for each of a plurality of periods of time, there is a determination one or more metrics indicative of pulse arrival time (PAT), each of which are indicative of how long it takes for the left ventricle to generate a pressure pulsation that travels from the patient's aorta to a location remote from the patient's aorta. Based on the one or more metrics indicative of PAT, the patient's arterial blood pressure is estimated. Changes in the arterial blood pressure are monitored over time. Additionally, the patient's arterial blood pressure can be modified by initiating and/or adjusting pacing and/or other therapy based on the estimates of the patient's arterial blood pressure and/or monitored changes therein.

Next, a computation process is performed to a digital biological signal converted from the biological signal to acquire an average captured reference phase and an average captured shifting phase of the digital biological signal. Then, the frequencies and the phase states of the digital biological signal and the flickering sequences are compared to output a corresponding control signal. A visual drive control apparatus with multi-phase encoding is disclosed herein.

Applicants have disclosed a wireless method for remotely monitoring the physiological status of ambulatory patients by using at least one “cloud” server. Physiological data, including ECG data, is collected by a device worn by a patient and then wirelessly transmitted (e.g., via a cell phone) to the server(s). Remote processing of electrocardiograms (“ECG”) is achieved, in part, by data streaming packet lengths acquired over no less than 3 seconds—3 seconds is typically equivalent to about 3 cardiac cycles (heartbeats)—to provide the quickest response time by clinicians to try to save a heart patient's life. Other types of physiological data are monitored by the device, so medical help can be obtained when needed. In this manner, any sudden onset of vicissitudes in a patient's well being may be detected and transmitted to the care-giver and patient in near real-time.
