The shrinkage of the plastic will be uniform and regulated so that it can reach a registered accuracy. The torsion in the dentures may cause a stress in them and the linear contraction may result in a mould magnification for compensation purposes. The hollow moulds that may be formed from the magnifications may produce the anatomical model in a shorter time.

A stainless steel disc 18 is clamped between a cover-plate 19 and the holder and hydraulic pressure is applied to the top surface of the disc. The pressure is raised over a period of at least a second and after an initial deformation, the disc usually needs annealing. Alternatively, the plate may be made of gold, platinum, palladium or a chromium-cobalt alloy.

A leucite glass-ceramic is disclosed which is prepared from a glass comprising: about 66.8 to about 71.9 mol % of Si02, about 8.5 to about 10.3 mol % of A1203, about 9.5 to about 12.8 mol % of K2O, about 0.5 to about 4.0 mol % of CaO, about 0 to about 3.0 mol % of TiO2, about 1.9 to about 4.0 mol % of Na2O, about 0.1 to about 2.0 mol % of Li2O, about 0 to about 1.0 mol % of MgO, about 0 to about 3.0 mol % of Nb205, and about 0 to about 3.0 mol % of B2O3. The leucite glass-ceramic is prepared by subjecting the glass components to a nucleation heat treatment, followed by a growth heat treatment, The leucite glass-ceramic may be used in the fabrication of a dental restoration using various processes, and may be used in the construction of dental restorations such as ceramic dental inlays, crowns, veneers, bridges, veneering materials for zirconium oxide restoration substrates, alumina oxide restoration substrates, or metal restoration substrates.

A dental blank has at least an inner zone (or layer) of a first color and an outer zone (or layer) of a second color, wherein the inner and outer zones are concentric. The inner zone can be surrounded in its entirety by the outer zone such that only the outer zone is visible on all surfaces of the blank. Alternatively, the inner zone and the outer zone can extend to a same single surface of the blank, such that only the outer zone covers all remaining surfaces. The blank may also have an intermediate zone between the inner and outer zones. A method of fabrication includes solid free form processes, such as robocasting, laser sintering and 3D printing that allow for placement of multiple colors. A dental restoration made from the blank can have a variety of shades depending on a ratio of milled outer layers to internal layers. 1. A method of milling a dental prosthesis from a blank , comprising:providing a blank with concentric zones, including an outermost zone, wherein each of the zones has a different color;positioning a form of the dental prosthesis on the blank wherein an occlusal surface of the prosthesis is contained in the outermost zone.2. A method of claim 1 , further comprising adjusting a position of the form on the blank to adjust a resulting color or chroma of the prosthesis.3. Provided are dental articles, and methods of making articles, having an aesthetic inorganic coating based on zirconia at least partially stabilized with yttrium oxide, calcium oxide, cerium oxide, or magnesium oxide. Stabilized zirconia coatings were found to provide a smooth, low friction surface having high abrasion resistance. These coatings are particularly applicable to orthodontic appliances. While virgin stabilized zirconia coatings can often have an undesirable color cast, it was discovered that this color cast can be substantially eliminated by heat treating the coated appliance in an oxygenated environment. The combination of depositing a stabilized zirconia coating and subsequently heat treating to decolorize the coating provides a surprisingly robust, stable, low-friction coating that is also aesthetic. 1. A method of making a coated dental article , the method comprising:providing a dental article having an outer surface; anddepositing on at least a portion of the outer surface a coating comprising zirconia that is at least partially stabilized by an alloying compound selected from the group consisting of yttrium oxide, calcium oxide, cerium oxide, magnesium oxide and combinations thereof2. The interior and exterior of the dentures are scanned and a best fit procedure is used to create a fully digitized denture. The denture teeth are selected from a library that is the closest fit to the original denture teeth. The library teeth are offset a preset distance to compensate for the best fit. The teeth are then subtracted from the digitized denture. The margins of the denture are then cleaned after subtracting the teeth. The denture base is then ready for manufacturing. The teeth are then installed onto the denture base and provided to the patient.
