A soft tissue stent may be placed over one or more of the patient's teeth, where the stent can include a mark to cut to create an access flap in the soft tissue. By keeping the flap attached, the surgeon can more easily return the flap to the proper position. The attached surgical guide permits access any area of the jaw and tooth and implanted device. The wedge system of claim 1 , wherein the first arm extends from the body along a first axis and the second arm extends from the body along a second axis that is angled relative to the first axis.3. The wedge system of claim 1 , wherein the first wedge further comprises a handle extending outward from the body.4. System and methodology objectively capture clinical data on oral health and provide standardized scoring for quantifying oral health. The process of capturing clinical data is based on use of an intraoral camera with imaging software that has the capacity to capture digital images of all tooth surfaces. Digital plaque data are collected in a standardized manner per tooth, and with the ability to select optimal frames for analysis. Data are extracted per tooth into a software program. Color classification of each pixel is determined by the software program using an algorithm that makes use of red/green/blue color code combinations. These classifications are then quantitatively used within the software program and separate algorithms that automatically generate a range of oral health scoring techniques. 1. A method of assessing oral health in a patient or subject , comprising the steps of:providing an intraoral camera that can capture or record frames within a mouth of said subject;using the intraoral camera, capturing or recording the frames of substantially all buccal, occlusal, and lingual surfaces in the subject's set of teeth;importing the frames into an image processing software program implemented on a computing device;processing the frames on the image processing software program to generate images of the teeth to be analyzed;analyzing and classifying color of at least a plurality of the frames to determine presence of yellow color, wherein the yellow color indicates presence of plaque;scoring results of the color analysis to objectively and quantitatively assess the oral health of the subject.2. The device comprises: a lead screw having a threaded point for screwing into the tooth root, and a threaded shaft; a pivoting member including a bore through which the lead screw passes, the lead screw being retractable through the bore by rotational engagement of a threaded member with the threaded shaft of the lead screw; and a platform for supporting the pivoting member such that the lead screw is able to pivot relative to the platform, The lead screw includes a locking surface for preventing rotation of the lead screw during rotational engagement of the threaded member with the threaded shaft. 1. A device for detaching a tooth root comprising:a lead screw having a threaded point for screwing into the tooth root, and a threaded shaft;a pivoting member including a bore through which the lead screw passes, the lead screw being retractable through the bore by rotational engagement of a threaded member with the threaded shaft of the lead screw; anda platform for supporting the pivoting member such that the lead screw is able to pivot relative to the platform,wherein the lead screw includes a locking surface for preventing rotation of the lead screw during rotational engagement of the threaded member with the threaded shaft.2. A custom tool for forming a dental restoration in a mouth of a patient includes a one-piece mold body providing for a customized fit with at least one tooth of the patient, the one-piece mold body including an occlusal portion forming an occlusal surface corresponding with an occlusal surface of the tooth, a mesial proximal portion forming a mesial proximal surface corresponding with a mesial proximal surface of the tooth, and a distal proximal portion forming a distal proximal surface corresponding with a distal proximal surface of the tooth. The mold body is configured to combine with the tooth of the patient to form a mold cavity encompassing missing tooth structure of the tooth. The occlusal portion, the mesial proximal portion, and the distal proximal portion are based on three-dimensional scan data of the mouth of the patient 2. The custom tool of claim 1 , wherein the occlusal portion claim 1 , a mesial proximal portion and the distal proximal portion are all customized to fit around a tooth receiving a restoration.3. The custom tool of claim 1 , further including a wrap portion which engages with the lingual surface of the tooth to allow the custom tool to snap onto the tooth.4. Methods and devices for interproximal dental restoration are disclosed. One version of the present disclosure provides a method for the restoration of a tooth including a top surface, and an interproximal surface facing an adjacent tooth. The method of restoration includes removing a portion of the top surface of the tooth, and a portion of the interproximal surface of the tooth to form a hollow cavity preparation extending from the top surface to the interproximal surface. The removed portion of the interproximal space is surrounded by a dental matrix. Light-curable composite resin is then injected into the cavity preparation and light cured. 1. A method and apparatus for restoration of teeth using light curable restoratives while assuring interproximal contact between the restored tooth and an adjacent tooth. The apparatus is in the form of a hand-held instrument with a specialized tip to hold an amount of pre-cured composite which is made from the same material as the restorative material or other compatible material and is intended for permanent placement in the tooth during the restorative process and becomes an integral part of the restoration. A tooth cavitation opening through a vertical tooth surface about which a matrix band has been tightened is filled by alternate deposition and curing of successive layers of the light curable restorative to a level at or below the plane of maximum circumference of the tooth. The amount of pre-cured composite is placed in a layer of uncured composite on this plane and the instrument is used to apply pressure to the amount of pre-cured composite to establish interproximal contact. This layer is cured, securing the amount of pre-cured composite and deforming the matrix band outwardly for subsequent filling and curing to complete the restoration.

Novel processes for the restoration of teeth particularly posterior teeth, wherein the use of a matrix band is required, are provided employing one component, packable, actinic light curable, resin-based restorative compositions. Such methods are now capable, for the time, of employing resin-based restoratives in the posterior restoration of teeth wherein the packability of the restorative composition enable the deformation of a matrix to allow substantial restoration of the original conformation of the tooth.
