Оболочку бедра фиксируют на бедре пациента посредством бандажей, оболочку голени фиксируют на голени также посредством бандажей. Две противолежащие друг другу по бокам оболочки, приблизительно вертикальные при выпрямленной ноге, шарнирно соединяют обе оболочки. Расстояние между обеими точками шарнирного сопряжения уменьшается от максимального значения при выпрямленной ноге до минимального значения при полном сгибании колена. When an external force is applied to move the hinge from the rest position the tension on the cord loads the spring, and when the external force is removed the spring applies a restorative force to move the hinge back to the rest position. The novel carbon-laminate knee orthesis (7) with integrated Menschik titanium four-bar chains (21) relieves the knee joint most reliably. It is outstandingly comfortable to wear owing to its light weight. The bending angle (22) can be individually restricted to the medical practitioner's prescription. The knee orthesis mouldings are made from a positive plaster cast (1) using the vacuum-forming process for laminates. This simple process makes it possible to manufacture high-grade novel knee ortheses in orthopaedic workshops. The joint bars (5, 6) are fitted between the individual layers of the laminate. After moulding and curing it is necessary merely to rivet the side pieces (16, 17) to the joint bars in order to obtain the finished four-bar chain and hence the complete knee orthesis.

A pad for an associated orthopedic brace has a laminate structure including a first layer and a second layer. The first layer is formed from a pliant material having a plurality of interstitial perforations formed therein. The second layer abuts the first layer and is formed from an elastic pliant material which projects outward through the perforations of the first layer to form nubs that are raised relative to the first layer. The nubs are characterized as having a relatively high friction coefficient when coupled with the skin of the associated orthopedic brace wearer. As such, the nubs, in combination with the first layer, define an uneven skin contact surface which renders the pad and associated brace resistant to migration when mounted on the body of a wearer.

A knee brace is provided which is configured to wrap around at least a portion of a leg of a user proximate a knee of the user to provide support to the user's knee. A mount is provided for mounting a holster to an outer surface of said knee brace. 1. An knee brace holster comprising:a knee brace configured to wrap around at least a portion of a leg of a user proximate a knee of the user to provide support to the user's knee; anda mount for mounting a holster to an outer surface of said knee brace.2. The knee brace holster of claim 1 , said knee brace further comprising:an upper portion configured to wrap around at least a portion of the user's leg above the user's knee; anda lower portion configured to wrap around at least a portion of the user's leg below the user's knee.3. A hinge for a brace comprises a tensioning element such as an inelastic cord for applying a restorative force to the hinge. A tensioning mechanism, preferably a hydraulic spring, tensions the cord as the hinge is moved from a rest position to a loaded condition. A hinge for a brace comprises a tensioning element such as an inelastic cord for applying a restorative force to the hinge. A tensioning mechanism, preferably a hydraulic spring, tensions the cord as the hinge is moved from a rest position to a loaded condition. A tensioning member having a peripheral cam surface applies a tensioning force to the cord as the hinge is moved out of the rest position. The tensioning block and the anchoring block may be operatively geared together along an arc of motion so as to provide a generally symmetrical motion of the tensioning and anchoring portions relative to the gusset. When an external force is applied to move the hinge from the rest position the tension on the cord loads the spring, and when the external force is removed the spring applies a restorative force to move the hinge back to the rest position. Optionally the tensioning member may be configured to be disengaged and reengaged by an external actuator. 1. A device for monitoring a treatment of posture of body parts in which a local mechanotherapeutic stimulus is applied includes an elastic material which is to be worn over the part of the body, a pressure regulating support, a pressure applicator and a pressure sensor. The support is fixed to the elastic material and passes over a region where mechanotherapeutic stimulus is to be applied. The sensor is rigidly attached to the pressure applicator and they are together received in a pocket. The sensor senses pressure and hence a stimulus applied to the part as a result of the tension in the support, the sensor being configured to output a signal indicative of the pressure applied, providing the opportunity to change the stimulus to within a given range based on the feedback from the sensor. Disclosed is apparatus and method for distraction (stretching and/or straightening) of injured or repaired knee joints. A joint for a rehabilitation device and a rehabilitation device are disclosed. The joint is defined for operation between an end of a first member and an end of a second member. The joint enables the second member to pivot at the joint with respect to the first member. The joint includes a positioning mechanism for defining a set position from which the second member pivots. The joint also includes a restriction mechanism for restricting the degree of pivoting of the second member, from the set position. The joint further includes a biasing mechanism for biasing the second member such that it returns to the set position when an opposing force applied to the second member is less than the bias of the biasing mechanism. A brace for augmenting extension of a user's limb about a joint comprises an upper arm pivotably attached to a lower arm. At least one compression element is attached to at least one of the upper and lower arms, and a substantially inelastic tensioning element is affixed to the other of the upper and lower arms over at least one tensioning member. Applying a force to bend the brace to a flexed position loads the compression element, and upon removal of the flexing force the compression element applies a restoring force to urge the brace back to the extended position. The compression element may comprise a hydraulic tension spring comprising at least one cylinder having a sealed portion defining a liquid containment space, and a piston comprising a compressing portion having a smaller diameter than the cylinder and extending axially through a hydraulic seal into the liquid containment space. A guide for maintaining the piston oriented axially relative to the frame maintains piston alignment so that when the frame is fixed in place and tension is applied to the tensioning member, the compressing portion of the piston rod intrudes further into the liquid containment space, compressing the hydraulic fluid and loading the spring. 1.
