These sections include a back support, which comprises a lower back section, a middle back section protruding therefrom, and two shoulder sections disposed on either side of the middle back section and releasably secured to the lower back section. In the releasing process, the shoulder section is first pivoted to an inclined angle downward from a plane of the lower back section and the middle back section, thus enabling a protrusion on the shoulder section to be released from a clamping of the frame portion and the rod, on the lower back section after which the shoulder section is capable of being pulled away and removed from the lower back section.

Each positioning mechanism utilizes a column and a first arm having a proximal portion and a distal portion. The first arm proximal portion is axially rotatable relative to the first column. The second arm possesses a proximal portion and a distal portion such that the second arm proximal portion is axially rotatable relative to the distal portion of the first arm. The second arm distal portion links to the frame connector. A controller determines the axial rotation of the proximal portions of the first and second arms to determine an overall configuration of the frame.

As a result, the position of the patient can be controlled remotely using the robot, and the controller can have an awareness of the position and orientation of the patient with respect to the operating room and with respect to various components of the robot. Such systems can thus maintain a fixed frame of reference between the patient and one or more end effectors of the surgical robot, eliminating the need for recalibration of the system due to patient movement.

The positioning table may be a secondary table arranged next to or above a primary table such as a radiotherapy couch, allowing for repositioning of part of patient such as the head and neck relative to a remainder of the body. The motion compensation system employs a direction of arrival sensor that includes rotating antenna elements in a configuration that improves the ease and accuracy of signal processing and analysis to identify the position of an RF transmitter affixed to a patient. The repositioning table has six degrees of freedom and is safe for use in imaging and radiation intensive environments.

A muscle tension relief device includes a first base portion extending in a first plane, a second base portion extending in a second plane, and a muscle engagement feature extending generally upwardly. There is a non-zero angle extending between the first plane and the second plane. The device is configured to engage with and relieve tension in a user's iliacus or psoas muscles. The device can transition from a first position resting on the first base portion to a second position resting on the second base portion to cause the muscle engagement feature to change orientation to apply pressure at the proper position on a user's psoas major muscle. The shape of an upper portion of a body of the device and the muscle engagement feature correspond to the shape of a hand, such as that of a physical therapist.

A patient support structure includes a pair of independently height-adjustable supports, each connected to a patient support. The supports may be independently raised, lowered, rolled or tilted about a longitudinal axis, laterally shifted and angled upwardly or downwardly. The sensors communicate data to a computer for coordinated adjustment and maintenance of the inboard ends of the patient supports in an approximated position during such movements. A longitudinal translator provides for compensation in the length of the structure when the supports are angled upwardly or downwardly.
