Described herein are thermoplastic denture frames having significantly improved lifetimes as well as comfort. The denture frames include a polymer composition including at least one poly(ether ether ketone) ("PEEK") polymer and at least one polyphenylsulfone ("PPSU") polymer. It was surprisingly discovered that the polymer compositions have significantly improved color stability, relative to corresponding polymer compositions including PEEK polymer as the only polymeric component of the polymer composition. Additionally, the polymer compositions have significantly improved toughness, flexibility and dimensional stability. The combination of the aesthetic characteristics and mechanical characteristics of the polymer compositions allows for denture frames having improved lifetimes and comfort.

The conformal coating can be subsequently surface modified to provide a chemical bond between the compressible component and a hardenable resin, resulting in increased bond strength and reduced bond strength variability. Use of a thin conformal layer can provide a surprising enhancement in bond reliability while minimizing the collateral effect on the handling properties of the unhardened composite. The conformal coating can also improve the compressibility and decrease rebound in the overall dental composite during a bonding procedure and reduce the amount of extractable components.

The pellets are typically cylindrical in shape and comprise a material and a polymer coating. The present invention enables modification of an intraosseous implant device that is not only biologically non-inert, but can stimulate bone and vascular growth; decrease localized inflammation; and fight local infections. It has been found that a relatively low concentration of a fatty mono(meth)acrylate can improve the handling characteristics of a dental composition by reducing the tendency of the composition to stick to a dental instrument and/or by reducing the tendency of a dental composition to string when being manipulated by a dental instrument. In one embodiment, a hardenable dental composition is described comprising a polymerizable resin composition comprising at least one multifunctional ethylenically unsaturated monomer; 0.2 to 10 wt-% of one or more fatty mono(meth)acrylate monomers; and at least 50 wt-% of inorganic oxide filler.
