A leg pad for a hockey goaltender comprising a pad body with an inner side and a cuff member extending rearwardly from the inner side. In use, the cuff member and a portion of the inner side define a longitudinal channel in which the calf of the goaltender is at least partially received, wherein upper and lower projections of the cuff member at least partially surround respective upper and lower parts of the calf and wherein the cuff member tightly maintains the leg within the channel while allowing movement of the leg between a standing position and a knelt position. 1. A leg pad for a hockey goaltender having a leg with a knee , a shin , a calf and a foot with an ankle and a forefoot , the leg pad being wearable on the leg to protect the leg , the leg pad comprising:a pad body adapted to be positioned adjacent to a front part of the leg, the pad body comprising an outer side of the leg pad, a medial portion adapted to be positioned adjacent to a medial part of the leg, a lateral portion adapted to be positioned adjacent to a lateral part of the leg, a bottom portion to be positioned adjacent the forefoot and an inner side adapted to at least partially face the shin; anda cuff member extending rearwardly from the inner side, the cuff member comprising an upper projection extending from the medial portion of the pad body toward the lateral portion of the pad body and being adapted to be positioned on an upper part of the calf slightly below the knee and a lower projection extending from the medial portion of the pad body toward the lateral portion of the pad body and being adapted to be positioned on a lower part of the calf slightly above the ankle;wherein, in use, the upper and lower projections and a portion of the inner side define a longitudinal channel in which the calf is at least partially received, wherein the upper and lower projections at least partially surround the respective upper and lower parts of the calf and wherein the cuff member tightly ...

A hockey-stick blade includes a heel region, a toe region spaced longitudinally from the heel region, and a mid-region located between the heel region and the toe region. The toe region includes one or more reinforcing elements, optionally of different lengths, located at different vertical positions within the toe region. The blade further includes a hosel that optionally is tailored to substantially match the strength and stiffness characteristics of an attached or integral hockey-stick shaft. The mid-region of the blade exhibits improved feel and flexibility characteristics due to the increased stiffness in the toe region. 1. A hockey-stick blade including a front face , and a rear face spaced from the front face in a lateral direction , comprising:a heel region;a toe region spaced from the heel region in a longitudinal direction;a mid-region located between the heel region and the toe region;a plurality of core elements positioned between the front face and the rear facea plurality of structural ribs separating the plurality of core elements; andwherein the plurality of core elements includes at least an upper core element and a lower core element, wherein a first reinforcing element is positioned directly or indirectly on a lower surface of the upper core element and only on a portion of a first structural rib of the plurality of structural ribs, and a second reinforcing element is positioned directly or indirectly on an upper surface of the lower core element and only on a portion of a second structural rib of the plurality of structural ribs.2. The hockey-stick blade of wherein the core elements are spaced apart from one another in a vertical direction.3. The hockey-stick blade of wherein each of the plurality of ribs are positioned between each pair of vertically neighboring core elements running longitudinally from the toe region toward the heel region.4. The hockey-stick blade of wherein the blade includes at least four core elements separated by at least ...

Described herein are illustrative embodiments of an ice hockey target training apparatus for training users to shoot pucks into a standard sized NHL goal, and methods for retrieving pucks from behind such apparatus. The apparatus may include a blocking surface including a first blocking portion and a second blocking portion coupled by a coupling mechanism. The first blocking portion may be configured to be coupled to a goal and to cover at least a portion of the upper portion of the goal. The second blocking portion configured to cover at least a portion of the lower portion of the goal. The coupling mechanism may be configured to move the second blocking portion relative to the first blocking portion to access the base of the goal to retrieve the scoring media from within the goal while the first blocking portion remains coupled to the goal. 1. A hockey training apparatus , the apparatus comprising:an upper blocking portion pivotably connected to a lower blocking portion forming a blocking surface, the blocking surface configured to deflect pucks, wherein the upper blocking portion is configured to be coupled to a goal and to cover at least a portion of the upper portion of a goal, and wherein the lower blocking portion is configured to cover at least a portion of the lower portion of a goal; anda coupling mechanism configured to provide the pivotable connection between the upper and lower blocking portions, and the coupling mechanism is configured to allow the lower blocking portion to pivot relative to the upper blocking portion to allow the user to access the base of the goal to retrieve the pucks from within the goal while the first blocking portion remains coupled to a goal, wherein when the blocking surface is coupled to a goal, the coupling mechanism is arranged to extend along a direction from a left side of a goal to a right side of a goal.2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the distance from an upper end portion to a lower end portion across the upper ...
