The invention relates to a video tracking system which determines the position of objects, e.g. players in a football match, by evaluating video image information. According to the present invention, the video tracking system is additionally provided with an independent positioning system which is preferably used in instances when the video-based position detection is faulty or does not work at all. According to one embodiment, the independent positioning system is GPS based, each football player carrying a portable GPS module which transmits the position data to the system by radio. Additional data, such as heart rate or acceleration, can also be transmitted.

According to the apparatus for correcting a head-up phenomenon especially during the golf tee-shot training, a golf ball either ascends above the ground or descends toward the ground from above just before the impact only if a down-swing is performed or only if the swing speed exceeds the pre-set value, such that the user may not suffer too much burden when swinging the golf ball placed on the tee. As such, during the golf tee-shot training the present invention is able to avoid the head-up phenomenon or correct the head-up habit by stopping the golfer from looking away from the place where a golf ball to be struck is located, by making the ball just before the impact only if the swing speed exceeds the pre-set value. In addition, even if the swing speed exceeds the pre-set value, the golf ball would not ascend or would descend from above just before the impact, such that the golfer can keep looking at the striking site till the last moment, thereby avoiding the head-up phenomenon and correcting the head-up habit.

A swing training device and system that includes a rotating light source or sequence of LED lights that are used to simulate the movement of a pitched ball along a horizontal line. The device may be used in conjunction with training systems designed to develop proper swing mechanics. The device may be set up as a stand alone unit supported by it own frame. The swing training device will help develop visual skills by using the eyes to track a light source along a path to the ball such that a bat or striking object hits the ball at the same time the moving light intersects or passes over the ball. The light source will rotate or repeat at a user controlled frequency such that the user may continue to practice and drill for proper swing mechanics. The swing training device will provide user feedback as to the timing quality of the swing noting weather the swing was early, on-time (ball was hit at the same time moving light intersected with ball), or late. The feedback may be provided with an audible sound, a digital readout (of yellow, red and green lights) and/or with a digital score.
