A trampoline comprises a trampoline sheet or mat supported around its periphery from a circumextending support structure by spring couplings, preferably a plurality of helical springs, under tension. The trampoline is provided with a net enclosure in which a generally circumextending net is mounted by respective sheaths on a plurality of poles coupled to the support structure and extending generally upright therefrom. In use, for the greater part of its height, the position of the net corresponds generally to the periphery of the support structure, while lower edge regions of the net are coupled to the periphery of the sheet or mat inboard of the support structure, thereby at least largely preventing a user from falling or treading upon the spring couplings or on an annular pad overlying said couplings, if present.

Springs or other elastic connectors used to support a bed within the frame of a trampoline or the like are attached using methods that permit the adjustment and/or a systematic variation of the tension (or the travel distance required to reach limit of elasticity) between adjacent (or sets of adjacent) springs. These spring attachment methods adjust the energy absorption capacity of the trampoline bed, as well as increase the time it takes a given trampoline to absorb a given amount of energy, increasing the shock absorption time and thereby reducing the likelihood of an injury.

When the sleeve is coupled with a connection tube, the outer expanded portion and inner folding portion provide greater structural strength. Whether defects are formed on the coupling seam at the outer expanded portion and inner folding portion can be easily and visually detected after the fabrication process is finished. Thus defected sleeve can be instantly identified during the fabrication process to save extra inspection time. Fabrication productivity of trampolines also improves.

The trampoline and safety net system uses an inwardly curved net and outwardly curved net poles that support the net. Sleeves are formed about an outer periphery of a top portion of the net. The sleeves are configured to slide over the top ends of the net poles. A strap extending from the sleeve can be wrapped around the net pole to prevent the sleeves from sliding off the top of the net poles. The net poles can be fixed onto brackets previously attached to the legs. A fence surrounds a trampoline and extends above the rebounding surface, reducing the risk of injury. Shock absorption is aided in the preferred embodiment by a support system of independent poles, linked at their tops by a flexible strap or line. An impact anywhere on the fence causes the posts to flex inwardly, absorbing the force.
