DIRECT CONTACT RACQUET

The present invention relates to a direct contact racquet or "DCR." In order to enhance the feel experienced by the player, the DCR is designed to maximize the contact between the player's hand and the ball, while still making use of a string-bed or other form of contact to provide a strike surface for the ball. In one embodiment, the strike surface is positioned on one side of the player's hand, such as the palm side or the back of the hand. In particular, a gripping surface for a player's hand is provided behind the string bed. The gripping surface may be shaped in various ways so that a player can comfortably grip it. Therefore, the DCR places a user's hand directly behind the string bed surface used to strike the ball. A method relating to an improved fitting system for a golf club shaft is disclosed herein. More specifically, the present invention utilizes specific data gathered from the golfer's golf swing itself to determine the best performing golf club shaft for this particular golf swing. Even more specifically, the present invention relates to the utilization of infrared motion capturing cameras to record the location data of a golf club shaft throughout a swing. Based on the location data captured, one or more dynamic behavioral characteristics can be calculated to determine one or more preferred shaft characteristics. Using the preferred shaft characteristics, a shaft can be recommended for the golfer having this particular golf swing. The current inventive fitting methodology is preferred to the archaic fitting method of using data gathered from the result orientated ball flight data together with a tedious process of having to try numerous different shafts.

A device for detection of tampering with the interior of sports implements or other hollow opaque objects. The device is inserted in the interior of the object and includes an RFID tag with supporting microcircuitry for transmission of a signal. The signal can be detected outside of the device. Persistence of the signal indicates that the body of the object has not been breached or otherwise adulterated. The microcircuitry includes a kill switch that terminates the signal when the interior of the object has been compromised. Inability to detect a signal indicates tampering of the object.
