A lacrosse head having an open frame with sidewalls that curve continuously from the base to the lip of the frame so as to define a curved scoop-like frame geometry when viewed in side elevation. The frame base has an angulated ball rest surface and a shoulder recessed therefrom at which a net is attached to the base. The lip that interconnects the frame sidewalls remote from the base has an outside surface angle that cooperates with the scoop-like geometry of the sidewalls to enhance control of ground balls. The overall scoop-like construction of the head frame provides improved feel during play, and enhanced ball control and pass/shot velocity. A lacrosse head pocket includes an elongated single layer runner with multiple cross pieces. The single layer runner can be constructed from a material, such as a polymeric material, molded over the cross pieces. The cross pieces and/or runner can include speed lace loops with which a net lace can be joined. A related method includes providing cross pieces, overmolding a polymeric material over the cross pieces to form a single layer runner, where the overmolded material is the only structure extending between and connecting the cross pieces, and where the cross pieces are transverse to the runners. Another method includes providing a pocket base overmolding the base with a polymeric material to cover portions of it, and forming connection elements between different portions independently of any other components of the pocket base.

Lacrosse head

The lacrosse head has a downwardly facing vertex where the curvature of side walls stops extending downward and begins extending upward. When a mesh pocket is attached to the head, the vertex defines the location where the pocket is the deepest. The vertex is located at about the midpoint of the lacrosse head. The vertex causes the lacrosse head to come as close as possible to the 2.75 inch maximum thickness of the entire head. The pocket can be made as deep as possible within the limitation that it must extend below the bottom edge of the lower side rail by less than the minimum diameter of a lacrosse ball. Moving the vertex as close as possible to the scoop shortens the distance the ball must travel from deep in the pocket to leaving the distal end of the scoop. This results in quicker release from the lacrosse head.

An improved head for attachment to a lacrosse stick is provided. The head has a bar-shaped string attachment feature on a pocket-facing side of the transverse wall (or “scoop”) joining the sidewalls at the distal end of head to provide a protected area for the attachment of vertically-oriented strings and/or shooting strings forming the lacrosse stick pocket. The string attachment feature provides the additional advantage of negating the necessity for through-holes in scoop that typically weaken what is already a vulnerable portion of head due to its likelihood of receiving repeated impacts with the playing surface or other equipment during play. There is a method and system for playing a game for at least a first team and a second team. The game may have a ball, at least two sticks capable of selectively retaining the ball, at least one goal, and a playing court. The playing court has various boundaries including a scoring line positioned about twenty five feet from the goal. One of the two teams attempts to score goals with the ball, whereas the other team attempts to prevent said goal from being scored and take possession of the ball. A lacrosse head includes a proximal end, a distal end, two sides and a top surface and bottom surface. The bottom surface of the head extends to a lower apex from below the axis of elongation at an angle of 5° to 20° with respect to the axis of elongation. A shaft lock for interconnection of an elongate tubular lacrosse handle and a plastic lacrosse head. The shaft lock comprises an elastomeric insert compression-fitted inside the handle. The insert has a compressible body portion which, in an uncompressed form generally conforms to the interior walls of the handle and is defined by a plurality of co-planar ribs that span the interior walls of the handle. A hard screw-anchor is embedded within the elastomer insert, and the insert is anchored inside the handle by at least one screw threaded through the handle into the screw-anchor from top-to-bottom, the screw(s) engaging the screw anchor and compressing it against the elastomeric insert. The threaded engagement of the screw(s) through the wall of the handle and into the screw-anchor compresses the elastomeric insert, maintaining a constant tension against the screw(s) and against the interior walls of the handle. A string lock for a lacrosse stick pocket comprising a single unitary rectangular and pre-formed with a shallow end-to-end arc as well as an optional shallow side-to-side arc. APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR STRINGING A LACROSSE HEAD

A robotic manipulator is used to control the forces and angles applied on the strings during stringing of a lacrosse head. Precise string lengths may be implemented for certain features of the pocket. In some embodiments, the manipulator attaches the pocket to a lacrosse head and produces a strung head which has precise ratios of tension when comparing various strings within the pocket. REINFORCED COMPOSITE GAME STICK HANDLE

An improved lacrosse stick shaft for attachment to a lacrosse stick head is provided. The stick is formed from a composite base shaft body with reinforcement features embedded or adhered to the surface thereof at selected locations to improve the resistance of the shaft to impacts and breakage without adding significant weight. The reinforcement features may take the form of rings of varying heights surrounding the entire handle at various longitudinal locations. In another preferred embodiment, the reinforcement features line selected edges of the shaft in a longitudinal direction where adjacent facets forming the cross-sectional shape of the shaft meet, or form a spiral along all or part of the length of the shaft. In yet another preferred embodiment, the reinforcement features are plates adhered to vulnerable areas of the shaft. A sheath for an article of athletic equipment having a shaft, which includes a cap and a rolled sheath. The cap is mounted on the free end of the athletic equipment and the sheath is unrolled onto the shaft to the desired length or the entire length of the shaft. The cap and sheath are preferably made from injection molded rubber, neoprene of other polymers that permit production in various thickness, colors and lengths. The elasticity of the material preferably gives it memory and durability. The diameter of the sheath is preferably smaller than the diameter of the shaft of the athletic equipment so that it stretches to a tight fit. The pocket can be a molded pocket including individual molded strings, combined strings, shooting strings and support rails extending around a perimeter of the pocket. Lacrosse Stick Skills Training Device and Method

A training device and method of training for a lacrosse stick assembly are provided. The training device can include a band including a front portion and a back portion. The band can be configured such that a point on the back portion of the band is arranged a distance higher than a point on the front portion. When the band is secured to the head of the lacrosse stick assembly, the back portion of the band is arranged closer to the lip of the head. A weight can be arranged on the back portion of the band and on an exterior side thereof. The weight is configured to be held below the sidewalls of the head at a location in the pocket where a lacrosse ball would sit during actual play when the band is secured to the head.
