A ratchet buckle and strap assembly is provided. The ratchet buckle has a passageway configured to slidably receive the strap, a pawl arranged to engage the strap and prevent movement of the strap in a direction from the rear portion toward the front portion, while allowing movement of the strap in a direction from the front portion toward the rear portion of the passageway, and a drive actuator arranged to engage the strap and feed the strap through the passageway from the front portion toward the rear portion of the passageway. The strap may have a plurality of first teeth, and a plurality of separate second teeth. The first teeth may be on a first side of the strap and the second teeth may be on a second side of the strap. The ratchet buckle may be configured such that the pawl is configured to engage a first side of the strap and the drive actuator may be configured to engage a second side of the strap opposite the first side.

A splitboard binding was developed specifically for boots that have toe and heel landings for full auto binding bails. The binding is also designed to interface with splitboard and solid snowboard bolt patterns. The basic components of the design can be broken up into two pieces, the parts that stay with the splitboard at all times, and the parts that are removable, only to be used when the splitboard is being ridden as a snowboard. The binding strap assist mechanism can be retrofitted onto standard snowboard binding straps to bias the binding straps into the open configuration, thus guiding the straps way from the foot area of the binding. Binding straps pass through the binding strap assist mechanism so that tensile forces along the length of each of these binding straps during use is not significantly conveyed to the binding straps assist mechanism. The tensile forces are thus isolated to the binding straps which are intended to carry such forces. The invention consist of a tool-less system applied for adjusting the wrist-strap and the toe-strap on snowboard bindings, where such tool-less system is made up with the combination of 3 elements, 1. It is tool-less so the attachment position of the binding strap can be unlocked from one position on the binding frame and locked into another position fairly easily with bare hands 2. It has a stable locking mechanism based on a profiled press-button/pin element fitting into at least one hole with profiled shape provided in the frame of the binding where also at least one hole provided in the strap(s) will fit in and be securely locked in when the button element is put in place 3. The press-button element is put in place from the inside and prevented from popping out during use also by the boot which blocks the only exit direction for the button element, which is inwards. The wrist-strap will further be prevented from popping out by the highback, which during riding covers the button element holding the wrist-strap in place. Provided herein are various embodiments for a boot for releasable engagement with a binding having a downwardly facing ledge and a toe strap. The boot preferably contains a sole, a toe portion, and a heel portion. A snowboard boot and binding system is disclosed which facilitates the engagement and disengagement of a snowboard boot and binding. The snowboard boot may include a boot engagement member extending from a rear of the boot. The boot engagement member is moved downwardly into a corresponding binding engagement member to provide an arrangement which prevents forward movement of the boot. The boot engagement member also may include one or more serrations to engage with one or more pawls on the binding to prevent upward movement of the boot. A snap-in arrangement may be provided in a boot toe region. The boot has protrusions extending outwardly from each side of the boot to engage with catches on the binding sidewalls. As the boot is pressed downwardly into the binding, the protrusions splay the catches until reaching recesses, at which point the catches rebound to capture the protrusions against upward movement.

A snowboard binding that eliminates the ratchet-type connection used in conventional snowboard bindings. Instead, the snowboard binding incorporates a connection mechanism that is somewhat similar to a ski-boot style connector, and that uses only two straps on each binding compared to the traditional four straps. In addition, the connection mechanism can be pre-adjusted by the user to the desired connection pressure. Once the desired pre-adjustment is reached, the user can simply step into the binding and connect the connection mechanism without needing to adjust the connection pressure or tightness during mounting the user's foot or boot to the board as with conventional snowboard bindings.

A binding strap assist mechanism. The binding strap assist mechanism can be retrofit onto standard snowboard binding straps to bias the binding straps and an open configuration. Binding straps pass through the binding strap assist mechanism so that tensile stress along the length of each of these binding straps during use is not significantly conveyed to the binding straps assist mechanism. The tensile stress are thus isolated to the binding straps which are intended to carry such stresses. The present invention provides a safe and convenient feature to snowboard bindings and other bindings. Safety is achieved because even if the binding strap assist mechanism breaks or fails to function, the binding straps will continue to function as normal. 1. A snowboard binding strap assist mechanism , comprising:a first lever arm;a second lever arm;a hinge attaching the first and second lever arms to each other;the hinge defines a strap side to accommodate a binding strap and a spring side;a spring circumscribes the hinge, the spring is a torsion spring;the first lever arm, the second lever arm and the hinge cooperate to enable the snow board binding strap assist mechanism to hold a snow board binding strap;the spring biases the lever arms to enable the binding strap assist mechanism to move between a closed configuration and in an open configuration.2. A self-aligning snowshoe binding is provided that simplifies the process of “strapping in” to a snowboard. The binding includes a self-aligning buckle that includes two mating clips, and each clip contains a pair of offset magnets. One clip is rigidly attached to a snowboard binding and the other, mating, clip is connected to an ankle or toe strap via a tensioning mechanism. The opposite side of the ankle/toe strap is secured to the binding with an adjustable mechanism. When the two clips are brought proximate each other, the magnets engage to create a loose buckling. When tension is applied to the engaged clips, the clips interlock such that they will remain together as long as tension in the strap is maintained.

Some embodiments disclosed herein provide systems, methods, and apparatus relating to a touring snowboard binding comprising an adjustable lateral leverage device. In some embodiments, the adjustable lateral leverage device may comprise at least one first attachment generally at a top corner of a highback of a touring snowboard boot and at least one second attachment generally at an ankle portion of the binding. The adjustable tensioning element may extend generally diagonally between the at least one first attachment and the at least one second attachment such that when the tension in the adjustable lateral leverage device is increased the lateral support to the boot is increased proportionally and when the tension in the adjustable lateral leverage device is decreased the lateral support to the boot is decreased proportionally. The snowboard boot may include a boot engagement member extending from a rear of the boot. The boot engagement member is moved downwardly into a corresponding binding engagement member to provide an arrangement which prevents forward movement of the boot. The boot engagement member also may include one or more serrations to engage with one or more pawls on the binding to prevent upward movement of the boot. A snap-in arrangement may be provided in a boot toe region. The boot has protrusions extending outwardly from each side of the boot to engage with catches on the binding sidewalls. As the boot is pressed downwardly into the binding, the protrusions splay the catches until reaching recesses, at which point the catches rebound to capture the protrusions against upward movement.
