Screw conveyor has central housing passing along axis R. device contains at least one helical line of conveyor passing like helical thread along central housing and around the housing and resting on the housing so that flow passage is formed around housing. Moreover, device includes at least one partition which cross path of flow between different parts of helical line of conveyor to preclude free travel of liquid and hard particles along flow path to output of hard particles, and two initially separated parts. Each of said parts has section of helical line of conveyor, and both parts are held axially together. Partition forms separate member held between parts of screw conveyor when they are held together in axial direction. EFFECT: improved reliability of construction, facilitated assembling.

ABSTRACT APPARATUS FOR DISPENSING MATERIAL Apparatus for spreading manure comprises an elongate hopper 12 mounted on a mobile frame. An axial feed rotor 18 runs along the inside of the base of the hopper and urges manure forwardly to a transfer rotor 25 which pushes the material sideways through an opening 21 to an overshot impeller 23 which throws the manure sideways from the apparatus. On the axial feed rotor 18 are blades 19 extending outwardly from the axis of the rotor and inclined in such a manner as to, push the material along the direction of the axis. The blades 19 are positioned on a reverse helical path around the rotor axis, the sense of the reverse helical path being opposite to the sense of inclination of the individual blades. In this arrangement the efficiency of axial delivery of the rotor 18 is substantially lower than if the blades were positioned along a helical path around the rotor axis having the same sense as the inclination of the individual blades. The reduced efficiency of axial delivery of the rotor can be matched to the capability of the sideways-directed impeller 23.

A method for producing grain protein from a whole stillage comprising:separating a whole stillage byproduct, via a filtration centrifuge, a decanter centrifuge, a pressure screen, or a paddle screen, into an insoluble solids portion and a solubles portion, which includes protein;prior to any evaporation step, separating the solubles portion, via a nozzle centrifuge or a cyclone apparatus, into only a grain protein portion and a water soluble solids portion, wherein the grain protein portion is not subsequently subjected to an evaporator; anddrying the grain protein portion to define a grain meal that includes at least 40 wt % protein on a dry basis.2. A system and method for extracting liquid and solid hydrocarbons and their derivatives from natural and man-made hydrocarbon sources, including but not limited to oil sands, bitumen, asphalt, roofing shingles, and other hydrocarbon articles of manufacture. The centrifuge subjects the materials to high G-forces. The combined processes separate the hydrocarbons from solids and residual solids to less than 0.2% by weight. 1. A process for extracting raw hydrocarbons from hydrocarbon containing material , comprising the steps of:preparing the hydrocarbon containing material to create a prepared hydrocarbon ore;adding a hydrocarbon solvent to the prepared hydrocarbon ore to create a hydrocarbon slurry;agitating the hydrocarbon slurry in an extraction tank;transferring the hydrocarbon slurry from the extraction tank to a mechanical separator; andmechanically separating raw hydrocarbons from the hydrocarbon slurry.2. A screw conveyor centrifuge of the type having a hollow cylindrical and/or conical shaped bowl or shell and a conveyor screw extending through the bowl. The bowl and the screw are both rotatable, but at different rotative velocities. A solid-liquid mixture is fed into one end of the conveyor and the solid portion thereof is transferred away from the opposite end after being separated out of the liquid as it is conveyed along the centrifugally rotating bowl by the screw. The liquid portion of the mixture is conducted away from a receiving point intermediate the ends of the conveyor by way of fluid drain structure disposed immediately adjacent the outside surface of the hub of the screw means. In several embodiments, the fluid drain structure consists of pipes extending axially from the receiving point through holes in portions of the flights of the screw to a drain chamber disposed immediately adjacent the beginning end of the conveyor screw. These pipes are detachably mounted and interchangeable with pipes of varying cross-section and lengths. Also, the radial position of the pipes may be changed to adapt to varying liquid levels in the bowl. Other embodiments use a multiple helix screw with alternate channels serving as the fluid drain structure. The flights intermediate the alternate channels may be interrupted at their rims or have apertures therethrough in the area of the receiving point.

A method and apparatus for continuously removing, through a centrifuging operation, liquid from a mixture including therein a cellulose fiber pulp of organic origin which is used or could be used in the making of paper. The method involves impinging the mixture upon a rotating screen surface to form a layer of lightly compacted, relatively porous, fibrous material thereon and passing a portion of liquid through said porous layer of material and through said screen followed by effecting a further removal of the liquid from said mixture by cleaning said screen surface by moving the edge of a transporting member adjacent said screen surface while simultaneously producing and maintaining a mass of densely compacted, relatively impervious, fibrous material between said edge and said screen and using said mass to remove continuously from said screen surface fibrous material deposited thereon, and rolling, wringing and redepositing said fibrous material upon said screen surface while passing additional liquid through said screen and moving said fibrous material along said screen surface. The mixture is centrifuged at a force varying within a range between approximately 70 and 650 times the force of gravity. The fibrous material passing with the liquid through the screen is recovered by impinging the liquid-fibrous material upon the surface of a second screen. The method may also be used with a mixture containing fibers which are relatively short in length by adding to said mixture a predetermined quantity of fibers having a relatively long length. The results of the agitation are then separated in one or both of a mesh screen shaker and a centrifuge. The mesh screen shaker subjects the materials to medium frequency oscillations. The centrifuge subjects the materials to high G-forces. The combined processes separate the hydrocarbons from solids and residual solids to less than 0.2% by weight.

The invention relates to a reactor for counter-current treatment of solids and liquids in a centrifugal force field, especially for finely divided solids which are readily suspendable in liquids. The reactor comprises a rotating drum 1 in which a co-rotating single- or multi-start worm 4 for conveying and processing the solids is axially arranged on the inner wall of the drum. Each worm flight consists of two screw threads disposed behind one another of the most widely variable designs. The first screw thread 7 essentially fills the entire diameter of the drum 1 and has numerous breaks 27 in the form of gaps or slits or is formed of offset screw thread elements 28. The second screw thread 6 disposed behind the first forms, in contrast, a gap with the inner wall of the drum and can be designed to be continuous without breaks. During operation of the reactor, the sedimented solids are conveyed on the basis of a differential velocity between drum 1 and worm 4. In the process, the first screw thread 7 collects, rearranges and, in each case, conveys the solids up to a break, and the solids deposited by the first screw thread 7 on the inner wall of the drum in the form of streaks are once more spread uniformly in the conveying direction by the second screw thread 6. In this manner, the surface of the solid is constantly and repeatedly renewed while being conveyed through the reactor, and as a result the intended reactions, for example mass transfer between liquid and solid, are intensified. The counter-current is achieved by feeding in the liquid 13 on the side of the drum 1 facing the infeed of the solid 12, and by arranging a weir 21 for the liquid discharge 17 and designing one side of the drum in conical form 3 up to the solid discharge 16. <IMAGE>

A decanter centrifuge is provided with a rotatable bowl and a coaxially-mounted conveyor which is adapted for rotation at a differential speed with respect to the bowl. The conveyor includes a central hub extending for at least one portion of the longitudinal length of the conveyor. A series of radially-extending ribs which transverse an open feed zone. Longitudinal ribs are also attached to the hub section. The longitudinal ribs and transversing ribs supporting a ribbon conveyor flight. The open feed zone serves to decrease turbulence during the introduction of the feed into the bowl. The radially-extending ribs both outside the feed zone and the remaining portions of the centrifuge bowl serve to reduce turbulence within the bowl and to control acceleration of the feed material during separation. The overall structure of the centrifuge serves to decrease the likelihood of washout is rotodynamically stiffer and thus less prone to vibration, is lighter and less expensive in construction and creates a stable operation.
