A rotary atomizer spray coating device, in certain embodiments, has a bell cup with a generally parabolic flow surface. This generally parabolic flow surface provides additional surface area for dehydration of coating fluids, thereby improving color matching as compared to traditional bell cups, for example, by affording capability for higher wet solids content. In addition, the coating fluid accelerates along the generally parabolic flow surface, resulting in the fluid leaving the bell cup at a greater velocity than in traditional bell cups. Furthermore, a splash plate disposed adjacent the bell cup, in certain embodiments, is designed such that fluid accelerates through an annular area between the splash plate and the generally parabolic flow surface. This acceleration may substantially reduce or eliminate low-pressure cavities in which fluid and/or particulate matter may be trapped, resulting in an even application of coating fluid and more effective cleaning of the bell cup as compared with traditional bell cups.

The present invention provides unique pressure actuated valves and related methods that may be used in applications where a plurality of fluid emission devices are provided on a plurality of lines containing fluid under pressure, in order to prevent fluid from escaping from the fluid emission devices until a consistent threshold or predetermined level of fluid pressure is obtained in the lines, without causing significant water pressure and/or flow loss through the valves. Valves of the present invention include a housing having an upper body and a lower body that may be coupled together to form an inner chamber, the lower body having an inlet in communication with a source of fluid under pressure, the upper body having an outlet in communication with a fluid emission device. A hollow movable fluid transmission piston is provided in the chamber for communicating between the inlet and outlet. The chamber formed between the upper and lower bodies may be provided with cup seals at opposite ends of the chamber to reduce friction and prevent fluid from entering therein, and a side air vent. A wider lower end of the piston is urged toward the lower housing body using a biasing mechanism, which pushes an O-ring at the lower end against a stop to prevent fluid from entering into the hollow center of the piston. When fluid with a sufficient pressure is provided from the source, it pushes the O-ring away from the stop and against the urging of the biasing member, allowing fluid to flow around the stop, through the center of the piston, and out through the upper body into the fluid emission device. The vent in the chamber allows air inside the chamber (surrounding the biasing mechanism) to escape so that there is no added air pressure within the chamber to be overcome by the fluid pressure. 2. The present disclosure concerns a paint circulating system suitable for providing paint to applicators in a product finishing facility. The system comprises: a pump for pumping paint around the system; an automatically adjustable back-pressure regulator (BPR) to reduce pressure fluctuations of paint upstream of the BPR; means for indicating a flow rate of paint through a conduit upstream of the BPR; and control means for controlling the BPR to maintain a desired flow rate based on the indicated flow rate. 1. A nebulizer has an aperture plate, a mounting, an actuator, and an aperture plate drive circuit (-). A method of calibrating an irrigation system having a plurality of mobile towers driven by a drive motor and a plurality of water emitters supported by the mobile towers , the method comprising:operating the mobile towers in accordance with an irrigation plan to move the irrigation system over a plurality of sections of a ground surface;determining positions of the irrigation system as it moves;measuring operating parameters of the drive motor as the irrigation system traverses each of the sections;comparing the measured operating parameters to expected operating parameters for the drive motor for each of the sections;creating a calibration map that reflects differences between the measured operating parameters and the expected operating parameters for each of the sections, the calibration map including a separate correction factor for each of the sections, wherein each of the correction factors accounts for differences between the measured operating parameters and the expected operating parameters for its respective section and not any of the other sections; andcalibrating operation of the irrigation system with the calibration map by adjusting an operational aspect of the irrigation system for each of the sections in accordance with the separate correction factors for the sections to account for the differences between the measured operating parameters and the expected operating parameters for each of the sections so that each of the sections is calibrated independently.2. Optical imaging systems and methods are disclosed herein for investigating and analyzing one or more characteristics of a spray, including spray front velocity, spray sheet length, spray break-up dynamics, drift potential, and drop-size distribution. Optical imaging systems disclosed herein include an image acquisition device, one or more illumination source, a processor for processing and analyzing image data, a background, and a spray system that includes at least a nozzle. The image acquisition device and illumination sources are positioned on the same side of the spray. The processor has a first algorithm to generate a feedback correction factor and a second algorithm to identify droplets and develop a drop-size distribution for the spray. Optical imaging methods for determining spray characteristics are also disclosed and generally include the steps of providing an imaging system, capturing images of the spray with the imaging system, processing the images, and analyzing the images.
