CONTINUOUS COATER A continuous coater of the type having a conveyor extending through a coating booth where paint or other material is sprayed onto the products as they are conveyed through the booth. The booth has an air flow control vestibule located adjacent the entrance and exit ports. Each vestibule is connected to an air flow exhaust system and is so configured that it is operative to draw air almost exclusively from outside the booth into the exhaust system so that there is a minimum of input air to the exhaust system from within the booth. The incoming air from outside the booth effectively forms a flow barrier to the egress of sprayed material and/or solvent to the atmosphere through the vestibule entrance and exit ports. Preferably, there is located in each vestibule means for creating an air curtain which functions to minimize the egress of paint or solvent from the coater cabinet and to provide a more nearly saturated atmosphere inside the cabinet.

A powder spray system including a powder spray booth through which product is conveyed past a spray gun mounted adjacent the booth to spray charged particles into the booth. The transverse air discharge combines with and redirects the air discharge through the slot as common continued air movement transversely away from the conveyed articles and toward an external air exhaust from the booth. The injection amount control unit includes: a support assembly assembled and coupled to a rear end of the main body and having a through-hole; a micrometer having a front end positioned at a rear side of the needle while a spindle unit is inserted into the support assembly to be supported and coupled, having a ratchet unit disposed to be exposed to the outside, and controlling forward and backward movement of the spindle unit by adjusting rotation of the ratchet unit through screw coupling of the spindle unit and the ratchet unit; a rotary dial coupled to an outer surface of the ratchet unit of a micrometer side; and a servomotor assembled and coupled by placing an end of a rotary shaft on an outer surface of the rotary dial, automatically adjusting forward and backward movement of the spindle unit by adjusting rotation of a dial unit in accordance with a rotational force in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction, and controlled with an operation by a control unit.

A powder spray booth for use in the electrostatic coating of articles is disclosed. The spray booth is of a basically symmetrical configuration allowing the spray coating of articles passing therethrough on a conveyor from either side thereof. At each end of the spray booth and positioned at a lower elevation than the spray region is an exhaust blower which may be effectively coupled to a powder cart located therebetween and below the spray region for the automatic recovery of the overspray. The powder carts are portable and when in a cooperative position with respect to the spray booth, include self-cleaning filters and automatic recovery and recirculation of the overspray. A plurality of powder carts may be used to form a sort of magazine to provide very fast color change capability. The spray booth itself may also be mounted on rail-like members so as to readily movable between different positions in a conveyor line or different conveyor lines according to the needs at the particular time.
