In the example shown. the hot-water bath 18 below the pan 11 containing adhesive 10 is used as the cleaning means. The bath is mounted on four bell-cranks 29 pivoted to the frame 31, one crank being prolonged to form a handle 34. When the handle is depressed the bath 18 is raised until the coating roll 12 dips into the water. The bath is held in this position by trigger mechanism 39, 35. The pan 11 has an extension 22 to which are pivoted handles 25 serving as lifting and drawing means when the water bath is to be exposed prior to the cleaning operation.

The base coat formulation is applied to a surface to form a base coating and the top coat layer is applied over the top coating. When dry, the top coating has high cohesion relative to the adhesion of top coating to base coating, thereby permitting the top coating to be manually peeled away from the surface. Related methods are also disclosed. 1. A paint system comprising:a base coating composition and a top coating composition, said base coating composition comprising a release material, said base coating composition having a VOC value less than 50 g/L, said top coating composition comprising a pigment and an emulsion paint base, said top coating composition having a VOC less than 50 g/L;said base coating composition dying to form a base coating;said top coating composition, when applied over said base coating, drying to produce a top coating having sufficient cohesion relative to the adhesion of said top coating over said base coating to allow manual peeling of said top coating from said base coating.2. The portable liquid dispensing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the liquid is heated to a temperature at least 40 degrees Centigrade.3. The portable liquid dispensing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the temperature of the heated liquid is controlled via the pump.4. A liquid such as hot melt adhesive is supplied at a controlled superatmospheric pressure to the wheel chamber of a wheel-type applicator. The wheel chamber is so formed that liquid can overflow only by passing through a narrow annular channel between the working face of the wheel where it enters the chamber and an opposing chamber wall. Wheel rotation produces shearing action in the liquid in that channel, raising the pressure in the main body of the chamber. As the channel fills, that shear pressure exceeds the controlled supply pressure, positively preventing overflow during wheel rotation. The controlled supply pressure may be obtained by passing the liquid through an accumulator in which a controlled pressure is maintained by a pressure regulating valve, that pressure being automatically relieved when the wheel stops. Alternatively, liquid may be supplied to the wheel chamber via two valves that are driven with the wheel to open alternately, thus terminating supply in absence of wheel rotation. Another aspect of the invention provides a narrow annular channel at the wheel surface between the liquid inlet to the wheel chamber and the doctor blade or equivalent. Wheel rotation then produces at the doctor device a pressure that is higher than the supply pressure. Such enhanced pressure is especially useful with a wheel of intaglio type.

A machine for attaching a book cover to endsheets within an adhesive is set forth. The adhesive is applied while it is within a predetermined temperature range. The machine includes a housing, an application roller journalled within the housing, and a metering roller journalled within the housing. The metering roll is axially parallel to the application roller and nearly contacts the application roller at a nip. The region above the nip defined by the application and metering rollers, and two internal seals with the housing is an adhesive reservoir. The adhesive remains in this reservoir before it is applied by the application roller. The machine also includes a level detector which detects the level of the adhesive in the adhesive reservoir. The level detector is coupled to a controller and produces a low level signal when the level of the adhesive is below a predetermined level threshold. Once this condition occurs, a transport means for transporting the adhesive from a main reservoir to the adhesive reservoir begins operation. A temperature sensor which measures the temperature of the application roller is also included. When the temperature of the application roller is below a predetermined range, heaters attached to the application roller begin operation. As such, the machine applies a hot melt adhesive within the appropriate temperature range consistently along the entire endsheets.

The present invention comprises: a viscosity modifier which adjusts the viscosity of an entire adhesive composition with a main base, which is manufactured using fatty acids as the main raw materials by a mixing amount; a softening control agent which adjusts the softening point of the entire adhesive composition by the amount of mixing; an adhesion control agent which adjusts the degree of adhesion of the entire adhesive composition by the amount of mixing; and several additives which have the additional functions of removing foam, improving and imparting adhesion, and preventing oxidation to the adhesive composition. The manufacturing method using the adhesive composition enables the laminate bonding of an outer skin fabric and an inner cushion fabric. Accordingly, when applied to interior materials of automobiles, the present invention is environmentally friendly and harmless to the human body, and does not cause headaches from the smell of glue inside the car. The adhesive is evenly applied and applied sufficiently to minimize adhesion failure, and because of its good flexibility, it does not affect the texture change of the fabric after lamination adhesion. Thus, a number of effects such as reduction of manufacturing cost and improvement of productivity.
