The invention relates to a process for preparing an aqueous dispersion of a polymer P, which comprises the emulsion polymerization of vinyl acetate, an acrylate monomer, which is a C 1 -C 10 alkyl acrylate or a C 1 -C 10 methacrylate, an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated C 3 -C 8 carboxylic acid, glycidyl methacrylate or glycidyl acrylate, optionally an ethylenically unsaturated sulfonic acid and optionally an ethylenically unsaturated other monomer. Furthermore, the aqueous polymer dispersion obtainable from this process and a powder form thereof are disclosed. They are useful for a paper coating slip containing one of the aforementioned forms. A paper or a cardboard, which is coated with the paper coating slip, shows surface strength, which is expressed by a good dry pick resistance, a good wet pick resistance or good offset test results. The present technology provides a method for preparing an acid-reducing filter that includes depositing a mineral blend layer to a filter substrate, where the mineral blend layer comprises calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate at a weight ratio of about 1:10 to about 10:1, the mineral blend is free of soluble halide or hydroxide salts of alkali or alkaline earth metals, and the mineral blend layer is insoluble in water. 1. An acid-reducing filter comprising: the mineral blend layer comprises calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate at a weight ratio of about 1:10 to about 10:1; and', 'the mineral blend layer is free of soluble halide or hydroxide salts of alkali or alkaline earth metals., 'a mineral blend layer deposited to a filter substrate, wherein2. The acid-reducing filter of claim 1 , wherein the calcium carbonate is present in an amount from about 25 wt % to about 40 wt % of the mineral blend layer.3. A method of treating a surface comprising:providing a workpiece having a grained surface, the grained surface having grain portions and non-grain portions;exasperating the grained surface thereby increasing recess surface contours of the grain portions;applying a lighter base paint to the exasperated grained surface of the workpiece;applying a darker cover paint over the lighter base paint;working the darker cover paint into the recessed surface contours of the grain portions of the exasperated grained surface of the workpiece;treating the grained surface of the workpiece having the lighter base paint on the grained surface and the darker cover paint over the lighter base paint to expose portions of the lighter base paint covering the non-grained portions while simultaneously exposing the darker cover paint held within the recessed surface contours of the grain portions; andapplying a sealing layer over the darker cover paint which is over the lighter base paint.2. The method of claim 1 , wherein exasperating the grained surface causes the grain portions to have an increased depth.3. The method of claim 1 , wherein exasperating the grained surface of the workpiece includes at least one of sandblasting claim 1 , wire brushing claim 1 , and applying a chemical.4. The enclosure defines a chamber in fluid communication with the vessel to receive the liquid. The chamber also has a inlet and an outlet with the inlet being closer to the first end than the outlet. The chamber receives the pieces from the device through the inlet and issues the pieces through the outlet. A motor driven mixing auger positioned in the chamber between the first and second ends rotates a selected direction about a rotational axis to intermix the liquid and pieces. The auger includes a first helical flight between the inlet and the outlet to convey the pieces from the inlet to the outlet when the shaft is rotated the selected direction. The auger also includes a second helical flight between the first flight and the second end to urge the solid pieces in a direction opposite the first flight. The second flight has a length along the rotational axis of the auger shorter than the first flight. In one variation of this system, the liquid may be a colorant and the solid pieces may include wood chips to be intermixed with the liquid to attain a uniform visual appearance.

A layer of a foamed polymerized latex emulsion is applied on the surface of a wood substrate, such as an oriented strand board. The layer is dried, crushed and then cured to form the coating. If desired the cured coating may be provided with a post cure heat treatment to improve its hardness. The present invention is also directed to applying and drying the layer of the foamed polymerized latex emulsion on a mat of wood fibers or flakes and then crushing and curing the crushed layer and the mat into a hardboard having a smooth hard coating. The coating of the present invention is useful as a sealer coat on a wood substrate. By adding pigment to polymerized emulsion, the sealer coat can be used to provide a finish coat on the wood substrate.

Способ производства строительного материала, включающий: первый этап, на котором наносят первую отверждаемую при помощи ультрафиолетового излучения краску на неорганический материал, содержащий древесную арматуру, и не полностью отверждают эту краску; второй этап, на котором наносят вторую отверждаемую при помощи ультрафиолетового излучения краску и полностью ее отверждают; третий этап, на котором полируют полностью отвержденную вторую отверждаемую при помощи ультрафиолетового излучения краску для придания гладкости ее поверхности; и четвертый этап, на котором наносят эмалевую краску и отверждают ее, причем на втором этапе в качестве второй отверждаемой при помощи ультрафиолетового излучения краски наносят краску, содержащую наполнитель в количестве от 40 до 70% массы в отношении твердого содержимого, пока первая отверждаемая при помощи ультрафиолетового излучения краска отверждена не полностью. 2. Способ по п. 1, в котором: на первом этапе первую отверждаемую при помощи ультрафиолетового излучения краску наносят в таком количестве, что покрытие, образованное из первой отверждаемой при помощи ультрафиолетового излучения краски, имеет толщину в диапазоне от 10 до 150 мкм, на втором этапе вторую отверждаемую при помощи ультрафиолетового излучения краску наносят в таком количестве, что покрытие, образованное из второй отверждаемой при помощи ультрафиолетового излучения краски, имеет толщину в диапазоне от 30 до 150 мкм, и на третьем этапе полностью отвержденную вторую отверждаемую при помощи ультрафиолетового излучения краску ...
