A safety device for cutting a strap , comprising:a housing with a base plate removably affixed to a cover, wherein the housing is configured to receive the strap therethrough;a blade structure affixed to the base plate, such that the blade bar extends a length of the base plate;a blade slidably affixed to the blade bar, wherein the blade is configured to cut the strap when the blade is slid across a length of the blade bar.2. A tool is provided in order to facilitate utilization by users in a wide variety of applications. By way of example, a multipurpose tool may include first and second handles configured for relative movement between a closed position and an open position. At least the first handle includes an axle extending thereacross. The multipurpose tool also includes one or more tool members rotatably mounted upon the axle and foldable into the first handle and first and second jaws rotatably connected to the first and second handles, respectively. At least the first jaw defines an opening through which the axle of the first handle extends. A device for carrying cordage includes a flexible, elongate and planar inner core having two opposite longitudinal sides and two opposite ends; and a cord wound around the two opposite longitudinal sides of the inner core along a longitudinal direction between the two opposite ends. The inner core and the wound cord together form an insert which has sufficient rigidity that facilitates full insertion of the insert into the sheath, strap, belt, or enclosure without bunching or kinking of the cord in a way that blocks a trailing portion of the cord from inserting into the sheath, strap, belt, or enclosure. A method for manufacturing the device is also disclosed.
