Waste from insulated electrical cables, including metal conductors and plasticized polymeric material consisting at least in part of plasticized polyvinyl halides is treated with a solvent to extract selectively the plasticizers in the polymeric material. The solution containing the extracted plasticizer is separated from the solid waste material and fed to a distillation plant. The deplasticized polymeric material is then subjected to cold crushing. The method is particularly advantageous in connection with the recovery of waste in which the plasticized polyvinyl halides are mixed with olefin polymers. The removal of the plasticizers permits the selective cold crushing of the polyvinyl halides and their recovery and also permits the crushing to take place at a temperature only slightly below 0 DEG C instead of about -45 DEG C with consequent saving in cost.

A process is disclosed for recovering polyamide material from post-industrial and post-consumer products containing the polyamide material and insoluble materials. The process includes the steps of: (a) contacting the post-industrial and post-consumer products with a suitable solvent in a reactor; (b) dissolving and partially depolymerizing the polyamide material in the solvent to form a solution by operating the reactor at a predetermined temperature and pressure and for a time sufficient to decrease the average molecular weight of the depolymerized polyamide to less than 90% of the initial molecular weight; (c) separating the insoluble material from the solution; and (d) recovering the depolymerized polyamide from the separated solution. The process may also include the step of repolymerizing the depolymerized polyamide.

The adhesive can be completely removed from the face fibers by applied shear in the presence of aqueous alkaline solution. Recyclable carpets made with the adhesive exhibit high delamination strength, both when wet and when dry.

A method for separating polymers from a physically commingled solid mixture containing a plurality of polymers comprises dissolving a first one of the polymers in a solvent at a first lower temperature to form a first preferably single phase solution and a remaining solid component. The solid component contains additional polymers which are not solvable to the solvent at the first temperature but which may be soluble at higher temperatures. The method includes subsequently heating the solvent to dissolve additional polymer from the solid component to form subsequent solutions. The polymers are then separated from their respective solution either using flash evaporation techniques when more than one polymer has been dissolved at a single temperature, or conventional techniques for extracting a polymer from a solvent in a solution.

A process is provided to reclaim carbon fiber from a cured vinyl ester, crosslinked unsaturated polyester, or epoxy thermoset matrix. The composite pieces are added to a polyol solvent composition under to conditions to free more than 95% by weight of the carbon fiber from the composite. The present invention includes improved systems and methods for recycling one or more polymers from a carpet that has been contacted with a solvent to dissolve an adhesive carpet backing under conditions that dissolve the adhesive carpet backing to provide a reclaimed polymer composition, the improvement comprising a mechanical disruptor that both pulls and separates the polymers from the adhesive carpet backing concurrently in at least two different vectors for a time sufficient to separate the one or more polymers from the adhesive carpet backing following the step of dissolving the carpet backing with the solvent, contacting the portions of carpet, wherein the improvement provides for the complete separation of two or more polymer components, and the carpet adhesive, and the two or more polymers from the carpet are produced without substantially sheering the two or more polymers.

In some embodiments, the extraction technique is supercritical fluid extraction using supercritical CO2 as a solvent. The method can remove contaminating organic and inorganic compounds from the polymers.

The process disclosed herein is method of recovering aluminum from multilayered packaging. The process comprises subjecting multilayered packaging to a reactor with aqueous formic acid, wherein the solution is sonicated using sonic horns. This process allows the recovery of aluminum in its pure metal form. The invention provides a method and equipment for extracting carbon materials from plastics. Particularly, the method produces nanostructured carbon materials by heating of at least one salt (e.g., NaCl) and at least one plastic material (e.g.polyethylene terephthalate) to a temperature greater than the melting point of the said salt, in which molten state of the said salt protects the carbonaceous material from oxidation. Moreover, molten salt promotes the graphitization of carbon materials. The product is in the form of graphenenano-flakes with high conductivity and high surface area. It also has a significant positive impact on the environment through the transformation of virtually non-degradable plastic wastes into high-value conductive carbon materials. 1. Improvements relate to a heat and energy integrated method and apparatus for plastic waste recovery having supercritical liquefaction. A volume of plastic waste is processed to produce a plastic waste stream. A reaction unit is utilized for adsorbing the plastic with a solvent having at least water, plus heating and pressurizing the plastic waste stream with the solvent into a supercritical extraction state for converting the plastic waste stream into a mixture fluid stream of a supercritical nature within the reaction unit. The mixture fluid stream may be cycled proximate to the outlet from the reaction unit via periodically letting the pressure down, and then letting the pressure recover. A volume of inert solids are removed from the mixture fluid stream thereby creating a remaining combined gases and liquids fluid stream. Power is recovered from the remaining combined gases and liquids fluid stream. And, volumes of water, gas and oil are separated from the combined gases and liquids fluid stream.

The supernatant can optionally be treated with a filtration aid, then the supernatant can be contacted with a hydrocarbon polystyrene non-solvent under conditions to obtain precipitated polystyrene thermoplastic polymer and/or precipitated polystyrene thermoplastic copolymer which can be washed with additional hydrocarbon polystyrene non-solvent, and optionally dried and formed into polystyrene thermoplastic polymer pellets and/or polystyrene thermoplastic copolymer pellets.

The processes can comprise dissolving said polystyrene waste in p-cymene under conditions to obtain a polystyrene/p-cymene mixture, adding the polystyrene/p-cymene mixture to a hydrocarbon polystyrene non-solvent under conditions to obtain precipitated polystyrene and washing the precipitated polystyrene with additional portions of hydrocarbon polystyrene non-solvent under conditions to obtain twice-washed polystyrene. The twice-washed polystyrene can optionally be dried and formed into polystyrene pellets. There is also provided recycled polystyrene obtained from such processes for recycling polystyrene waste.

Improvements relate to a heat and energy integrated method and apparatus for plastic waste recovery having supercritical liquefaction. A volume of plastic waste is processed to produce a plastic waste stream. A reaction unit is utilized for adsorbing the plastic with a solvent having at least water, plus heating and pressurizing the plastic waste stream with the solvent into a supercritical extraction state for converting the plastic waste stream into a mixture fluid stream of a supercritical nature within the reaction unit. The mixture fluid stream may be cycled proximate to the outlet from the reaction unit via periodically letting the pressure down, and then letting the pressure recover. A volume of inert solids are removed from the mixture fluid stream thereby creating a remaining combined gases and liquids fluid stream. Power is recovered from the remaining combined gases and liquids fluid stream. And, volumes of water, gas and oil are separated from the combined gases and liquids fluid stream.

本发明提供了一种碳纤维树脂基复合材料热降解催化剂及其应用方法,涉及碳纤维回收技术领域,回收效率高,成本低,回收后碳纤维的力学强度也得到了保持,能够为碳纤维树脂基复合材料的循环经济提供支持;该催化剂包括第一组分、第二组分和第三组分;所述第一组分为氯化钾或氯化钠,所述第二组分为氯化锌或氯化铁,所述第三组分为二氧化钛或氧化硅;第一组分、第二组分和第三组分的质量比为1:0.5:0.5~1:2:2;使用时,将碳纤维树脂基复合材料裁剪并置于熔融状态的所述催化剂中,300~500℃保温反应10min~30min,取出进行超声清洗。本发明提供的技术方案适用于碳纤维回收的过程中。

Настоящее изобретение относится к способу очистки регенерированного полиолефинового гомополимера или сополимера, включающему: a) получение регенерированного полиолефинового гомополимера или сополимера, причем упомянутый регенерированный полиолефиновый гомополимер или сополимер выбирают из группы, состоящей из полимеров после бытового использования, полимеров после промышленного использования и их комбинаций; b) приведение в контакт регенерированного полиолефинового гомополимера или сополимера при температуре от 80 до 220°C и при давлении от 1,03 МПа (150 фунтов на кв. дюйм) до 103,42 МПа (15000 фунтов на кв. дюйм) с первым жидким растворителем со стандартной температурой кипения менее чем 70°C, с получением экстрагированного регенерированного полиолефинового гомополимера или сополимера; c) растворение экстрагированного регенерированного полиолефинового гомополимера или сополимера во втором жидком растворителе со стандартной температурой кипения менее чем 70°C при температуре от 90 до 220°C и давлении от 2,41 МПа (350 фунтов на кв. дюйм) до 137,90 МПа (20000 фунтов на кв. дюйм), с получением раствора гомополимера или сополимера; d) отделение гомополимера или сополимера от упомянутого раствора гомополимера или сополимера; при этом второй жидкий растворитель имеет тот же химический состав, что и первый жидкий растворитель, или другой химический состав, причем указанные первый и второй жидкие растворители выбирают из группы, состоящей из алифатических C–Cуглеводородов и их смесей.
