Заготовка содержит полый корпус, имеющий боковую стенку, проходящую вокруг продольной оси, и концевую стенку, расположенную поперек указанной продольной оси. Точка А указанной концевой стенки имеет определенное значение удельной энтальпии остаточного плавления. Удельная энтальпия остаточного плавления равна разнице между удельной энтальпией полного плавления и удельной энтальпией кристаллизации части аморфной фазы, которая кристаллизуется при ее нагревании. Указанные величины измеримы с помощью анализа методом дифференциальной сканирующей калориметрии (ДСК). При этом по меньшей мере одна точка В, F, L, О боковой стенки имеет другое значение удельной энтальпии остаточного плавления, которое больше, чем указанное значение. Предложен также контейнер, полученный из указанной заготовки. The invention is directed to polyester containers that are produced from polyester preforms, the preforms having a thermoplastic over-mold layer on at least a part of the exterior surface of the preform. The preform is made by over-molding the thermoplastic layer onto the preform surface in one or more over-molding operations. In a single over-molding embodiment the preform has a body layer of a first color and the over-molded layer of a second color. The over-mold layer can have a thickness gradient varying in thickness from one end of the preform to adjacent another end of the preform. The over-mold layers can have a thickness and color gradient. A third color will result from the blending of the first color and the differing colors of the over-mold layers where the first color and the differing colors can both be perceived. The color of the contained liquid can also add to the color mixing when the container is substantially transparent.

In these preform and bottle, the leading edge of the gas barrier layer is positioned at a half height of the neck ring where the most advanced front of the leading edge neither reaches a half height of the stop ring nor extends to the functional portion. It is intended here that the neck would not be affected by the shrinking deformation caused by the existence of the gas barrier layer in the functional portion of the neck, which is treated for thermal crystallization.

A preform is provided for blow-molding to form a container. The preform includes a finish portion for rotatably engaging a closure to seal contents within an interior of the container. The finish portion comprises a cylindrical body that begins at an opening to the interior and extends to and includes a tamper evidence ledge. A mirror polished sealing surface inside the finish portion cooperates with a plug seal of the closure to seal the container. Threads outside the finish portion engage with similar threads inside the closure. Thread starts of the threads reduce potential damage to the threads during installation of the closure. The thread starts may include a start pitch that is greater than a thread pitch of the threads. A handling valley disposed between the threads and the tamper evidence ledge facilitates air-conveying the container along a manufacturing assembly line.

A plastic preform is provided that includes a hollow body portion including a closed bottom portion, a lower portion extending upwardly from the bottom portion, and a neck portion extending upwardly from the lower portion. The neck portion includes a support flange having an upper and lower surface, a tamper-evident formation, threads, and a dispensing opening positioned at a top of the neck portion. In an embodiment, the weight of the neck portion is 2.3 grams or less; and/or the vertical distance from the top of the dispensing opening to the lower surface of the support flange, including the threads and the tamper-evident formation, is 0.500 inches or less. Containers and methods for molding preforms and making containers are also disclosed.

A preform can be made from two different materials that do not bond together by a bi-injection process, using the same mold. First an outer preform can be fashioned, then an inner preform molded through a center hole in the bottom of the outer preform, and the preforms connected. Inner/outer preform materials can be different, e.g., PET/polyolefin or polyamide, or same, e.g., PET/PET. To prevent mutual bonding during molding of the second, a non-stick coating can be sprayed on a surface portion of the first preform prior to molding the second. Manufacturing order can be either outer/inner, or inner/outer, and the non-stick coating sprayed on the inside/outside of the preform first molded.

The receiving finger is designed that it can engage into the hollow body molding. The outside shape of the receiving finger substantially corresponds to inside shape of the hollow body molding so that the receiving finger ( 5 ) can hold the hollow body molding. Preferably, the outside diameter of the receiving finger is substantially equal to inside diameter of the hollow body molding in a cooled condition so that the hollow body molding can be removed from the receiving finger even after shrinkage. Desirably, the outside diameter of the receiving finger is between about 0.01 mm and about 1 mm and preferably about 0.1 to about 0.5 mm smaller than the inside diameter of the hollow body preform in the removal condition so that the hollow body molding can be removed from the receiving finger even after shrinkage. An apparatus is desirably provided for at least one of cooling and heating the hollow body molding so that the hollow body molding can be selectively cooled or heated by means of the system.

The unblown preform of orientable plastics is inserted into a blow molder and thereafter stretched by a stretch rod. During the stretch process the handle on the preform unbends rather than stretching to form the approximate shape of the handle in the finished container. The blow mold then closes on the stretched preform thus capturing the handle. Blow gas is then injected into the interior.

The invention concerns a preform for a plastic container in the form of a can intended particularly for pressurized beverages, and the preform holder in the container manufacturing process. The preform ( 10 ) consists of a body ( 1 ) with a neck ( 3 ) ended with a thin outer flange ( 4 ). A supporting flange ( 6 ) is formed on the inner wall of the neck ( 3 a ), while the outer surface of the neck ( 3 b ) is even. The preform holder comprises a body ( 11 ) provided with pockets ( 13 ). The pockets seat mobile-anchored clasps ( 14 ) which are clamped on the body ( 11 ) with an elastic clamping ring ( 15 ). The clasps ( 14 ) each ends with a tooth ( 16 ) which extends over the seat ( 17 ) where the thin outer flange ( 4 ) of the preform ( 10 ) rests. The inner side wall of the seat ( 17 ) has a groove ( 19 ) carved in it to accommodate the supporting flange ( 6 ) of the preform ( 10 ).

A method of forming a container from bi-axially orientable plastics material and having an integral handle with the steps of forming a preform having a neck portion and an expandable portion below the neck portion, with the neck portion including a locating ring above the expandable portion and a handle molded to the non expandable at one end and molded to the expandle portion at the other end. Where the molded-in handle is the approximate length of the handle of the finished container. The unblown preform of orientable plastics is inserted into a blow molder and thereafter stretched by a stretch rod. During the stretch process the handle on the preform unbends rather than stretching to form the approximate shape of the handle in the finished container. The blow mold then closes on the stretched preform thus capturing the handle. Blow gas is then injected into the interior.

A preform ( 1 ) of plastic material for manufacturing bottles through a blow-moulding process includes a substantially cylindrical central body ( 3 ) having an open end ( 2 ) and a closed end ( 4 ). In correspondence of the central area of the closed end ( 4 ) there is provided a hollow appendix ( 5 ), projecting outwards of the preform, capable of internally housing the tip end of a stretching rod of the preform ( 1 ). Both the hollow appendix ( 5 ) and the remaining side portion of the closed end ( 4 ) of the preform may be spherical, conical, elliptical or parabolic.
